モミジ Japanese Maple Trees

 今朝も東京は快晴でしたが、風が強く帽子が吹き飛ばされるほどでした。茂呂山公園のモミジが見どころと聞いたので上ってみました。

Another morning with blue sky, but with strong wind.  We went up the Moroyama Park to see the Japanese maple trees.  

赤葉の木は綺麗に紅葉していましたが、黄色のは若干緑色が残っている段階で、まだ長持ちしそうです。

The red variety was fully in autumn colour, but the green variety had not turned totally yellow yet with some green colour lingering.

強風に煽られて枝が波打つたびに葉っぱが金色に輝いていました。

The wind was so strong that the golden leaves were glittering as the branches swayed.

公園で At the park

 東京は今日も朝から快晴でしたが、気温がグンと下がり最高気温でも14℃くらいしかなかったようです。先日の勤労感謝の日はまだ暖かかったので人出が多かったけど、今朝の寒さの影響か公園はとても静かでした。

Another sunny day in Tokyo but very few people in the park, in contrast to last Tuesday, the national holiday, when it was warm and sunny.  Today, the maximum temperature was only 14℃ and quite chilly.

公園入口の林のイチョウの木は落葉が進んでいて、晩秋らしい雰囲気です。

The big ginkgo tree in the woods nearest to the entrance of the park has lost more than half of its leaves.

イチョウの葉っぱのカーペットの上でタイガにポーズをとらせようとしましたが、ウキウキそわそわで、なかなか静止しません。何度も指示しているうちに

とうとう飽きたらしく、リードを加えて振り回し始めました。

公園上の方へ移動。

We went up the hill to the upper part of the park.

古代家のある林も、木々がスカスカになっています。

We walked through the woods where the reconstructed ancient dwelling was.

東京は寒暖の差が少ないのであまり綺麗な紅葉は見られませんが、この公園のトウカエデの赤い葉とイチョウは綺麗です。

陸上競技場も今日は人影がまばら。

The sports ground next to the woods - again, very few people.

古代家の林とは道を挟んで向かいにある草地へ移動。ノムラモミジが色づいています。

We moved to the field where the Japanese maple tree was.

My favourite maple tree.

帰りしな、四中横の草地で近所の紀州犬ウメちゃんに会えました。この太刀尾がカッコいいです。

On our way home, we saw Ume, my neighbour's female Kishu Ken.

最近ウメちゃんはタイガに甘えるような仕草をするのが可愛いです。

この↓写真だけを見るとまるで「友達」の雰囲気ですが、実際は私のカメラをウメちゃんもタイガも必死で避けているだけです。

In this photo, they look like friends facing the same direction but, in reality, they were desperately avoiding my camera.

公園で At the park

 四中横の草地で初めて見る子がいました。４歳半になるグリちゃん。ワイヤーフォックステリアにしては毛が短いと思っていたら、片親だけがワイヤーだそうです。とても人懐こくて私に寄ってきた後はタイガを遊びに誘っていましたが、お互いリードに繋がれたままなので飼い主たちの方が沢山動き回ります。

When we arrived at the park, we met a new face: a female Wire Fox Terrier mix, named Guri, 4 years old.  She is a very friendly girl and invited Taiga to play immediately.

この子は名前が浮かばない。でも飼い主さんがちゃんとタイガの名前を呼んでくださるので、以前会ったはずです。今さら名前聞けない。そういうとき私が使う手は、会話の中でさかんにタイガの名前をだすことで、「タイガはどうのこうの....」と言っているうちに、相手も「うちの〇〇は....」となるように期待するのですが、めったに機能しません。

This Toy Poodle's owner knew Taiga's name but I could not remember his name. 

とてもビビリで、私の手の臭いは嗅げるけどタイガとは一定の距離を保っていました。

He was extremely timid and, although he accepted my approach, he would not allow Taiga to get near.

そこへ、新しい子が到着。グリちゃんの注意が集中しています。

Guri noticed a new face approaching and her attention was all on the newcomer.

とても小さなヨーキーで、大人の両手のひらに乗りそうなくらい。名前は「ツブ」ちゃん。2歳で体重は1.7kgだそうです。

She is such a tiny Yorki, weighing only 1.7kg, and her name is 'Tsubu' which means a grain.

ツブちゃんは知らない子たちに囲まれてコワイけど、声は出しません。

She is scared being surrounded by strangers but never utters a voice.

グリちゃんに接近されて耐えています。

ただひたすら耐える。

今度はタイガが近づいて行きました。

It is Taiga's turn to get close to her.

タイガに一飲みにされそうなほどの体格の差があります。

The size difference is such Taiga could almost swallow Tsubu in a gulp.

誰にも攻撃されないと分かったのか、姿勢が少し自然になりました。

As Tsubu felt assured that no-one would attack her, her posture became more natural.

公園は涼しくて心地よいので、タイガがまた「俺は帰らない」モードです。

It was so pleasant in the park with the warm sun and cool breeze that Taiga was in no mood to go home.

名前を呼んでも、さらにソッポを向くだけ。

When I called her name, she turned away.
