早朝散歩で、近所のジャーマンピンシャーのレアちゃんとばったり。まだ子犬の領域を出ていないようなレアちゃんがズカズカとタイガの臭い嗅ぎに近づいてきましたが、タイガは怒りません。実際、どんな状況でタイガが怒るのか、飼い主の私でさえ思いつかないくらい。
We met our neighbour's German Pinscher, Leah, during our morning walk. Although she is still a puppy, Leah approaches Taiga directly to take a sniff. Taiga never gets upset. In fact, I cannot imagine what situation would make her upset enough to growl. I have never seen her angry.
When the weather turns cool, Leah dons this 'burglar's hood'. According to her mom, Leah's ears are so thin that they tear easily when it gets cold outside. For Kaiken, the thick ears are one of the traits of the breed, so it is hard for me to imagine the problem.
レアちゃんと出会うと、この短いシッポをピコピコ振ってくるのがカワイイです。
Every time Lear meets us, she wags this tiny tail furiously. So adorable.
帰宅して二度寝中のタイガ。一日５回の散歩をしていても、タイミングを外すと漏れているときがあります。昨日の午後にそれが起きたので、色違いの敷物に変えました。私はこのネコ模様が気に入っています。
Taiga having a second sleeping session after getting home. Although we go out 5 times a day, if I misjudge the timing (i.e. leaving it for too long between walks), she can still have an accident. It happened yesterday and I had to change the carpet cover. This cat pattern is my favourite and I bought 2 of them.
敷物はハンディクリーナー掃除機に対応できる厚みがあり、かつ汚れたら洗濯機に放り込んできれいさっぱりの手軽さもあります。
しばらくは汚さないでね。
The cover is thick enough to withstand a handy vacuum cleaner, and flexible enough to be thrown into the washing machine when soiled. Hope this one will last for some time.
午後に地元ＪＡでバジルの苗を買ってきました。寒くなったら室内へ取り込みで、冬の間もバジルが利用できるか実験です。夏用のはお盆が過ぎる頃には葉っぱが固くなるので、もう処分してあります。
レジのところのおじさんが、私が「袋を要らない」と言ったら、ささっと新聞紙で折り紙のように袋を作って苗を入れてくれました。これ、日本ならではの気づかい。
I got a pot of basil plants at the nearby JA shop. The basil plants bought in spring become unusable after mid-August. I am hoping that these new ones will last by keeping them indoors during winter.
At the cashier's counter, when I said that I didn't need a plastic bag, the man quickly made an origami container with newspaper so that my hands would stay clean. How thoughtful of him.
この時期、苗をほぐして植え付けるのはリスクが高すぎるので、売られていた状態の一塊のままで10号鉢に植えました。相変わらず写真撮影に非協力的なタイガです。
Normally, I would try to disentangle the lump into many individual plants before putting them into soil. Given the approaching cold season, I decided to plant them as they came in the plastic pot.
