公園で At the park

 ここ２，３日で気温がグンと下がったので、散歩のとき天気が良くても結構寒く感じます。

公園に着くと向こうからバムちゃんがやって来ました。

When we arrived at the park, we saw Bam, a female rescued dog, coming out of the woods.

バムちゃんは保護された子で、もとはとてもビビりでしたが、最近タイガに対して度胸がついてきたようです。

She used to be extremely timid but recently, she has become bolder with Taiga.

タイガが飼い主さんに挨拶しているあいだも「遊ぼうよ」と誘ってきました。

Even as Taiga was greeting Bam's dad, she could not wait to play with Taiga.

あまり乗り気でないタイガに対して足をかけてきました。

Taiga was not all that keen on playing, but Bam would not take 'no' for an answer.

でもタイガが相手し始めたとたんに逃げます。

But the moment Taiga faced her, Bam ran away...

と思ったら戻ってきてまた遊びに誘います。

... only to return immediately.

かなりシツコイ。

バムちゃんから解放されて林のなかを散策。

After being released by Bam, we walked through the woods.

公園の上のほうへ移動。

イチョウの落ち葉が綺麗です。

公園出口の林に戻ってきました。

出口の広場では、いつものようにバードウォッチャーたちが高価なカメラを据えてアオゲラが柿を食べにやって来るのを待っていました。

ヒマワリのパイ Sunflower Pie

 パフペイストリーでヒマワリパイを作りました。何で冬に？と思われるかも知れませんが、バターが多い生地なので夏には扱いにくいからです。冷めても美味しいし、温め直してもサクサク感がよみがえって美味しいです。

I made a sunflower pie with puff pastry.  Why a sunflower in winter?  The dough has a very high content of butter and it is easier to handle in a cold season.

公園で At the park

 夕方から雨が降る予報だったので、早めに出かけました。暗い雲が立ち込めていたので、柿の木広場に着くともう灯りがついていました。

As it was forecast that it would rain from early evening and all day tomorrow, we left for a walk earlier than usual.  The sky was threatening and it was already semi-dark  when we arrived at the Persimmon Park.

柿の木広場には数頭のワンコたちが来ていましたが、薄暗い中でカメラのシャッターを切ってもボケボケで、だっこされて固定状態のこの子しかまともに撮れませんでした。

小さなちいさなチワワの女の子で、名前はリンちゃん。生後７か月の子で、体重は1.7kgほどだそうです。

My camera does not work at dusk and only a few shots survived although there were several dogs in the park.  This is Lin, a female Chihuahua, 7 months old.  She only weights 1.7kg.

拾い食いのクセのある子だそうで、足元におちていた鳥の羽を食べ始めました。飼い主さんと私が口の脇からはみ出している軸の部分を引っ張ろうとしたら、本気で怒って手を噛んできました。これほど小さいと躾に躊躇してしまいそうですが、犬種に関係なく犬は犬。でも、うちの子ではないので遠慮しておきました。

She has a habit of picking and eating from the ground.  When she started munching on a bird feather, her mom and I tried to pull it out as we could see the quilt out of her mouth.  She growled and viciously bit our hands.  She is a diva.  It is up to her mom to train and teach manners, so I did nothing more.

魔性の生き物です。

この子は黒柴の女の子で、名前はマルちゃん、１歳台で非常に人懐こい子。飼い主さんの話によると、うちのタイガと同じで、他所の人には非常に懐こいのに一旦家に帰るとシラーッとして別犬になるそうです。

Another new face: a female Black Shiba, named Maru, 1 year old.  According to her dad, she is super friendly to people she meets outside but, once she gets home, she becomes very aloof to her dad - that's just like Taiga.

飼い主さんたちの一人が自宅で生ったレモンと手作りのお餅をくださいました。

One of the dog moms gave us a little present: home-grown lemon and homemade sweet mochi.

我が家のモミジの紅葉 Maple plant at home

 城北公園のノムラモミジが羨ましくて、今年の春に近所の園芸店で買った赤葉のモミジが紅葉してきました。当初は30cmくらいの極小苗でしたが、夏の間に少しだけ育ちました。

I was so impressed with the Japanese maple tree with red leaves in the Johoku Central Park, so I bought a tiny plant in spring this year.

公園のノムラモミジ同様、春の葉は輝くような赤色ですが、秋はこの状態です。夏のあいだ、果樹の下で伸びた雑草に埋もれていたので、ところどころボロボロの葉ですが気に入っています。樹形はどうするか、これから決めます。

The plant grew a little during the summer.  Although currently the red hue is not as brilliant as it was in the spring, it is till very pretty.

The plant being so small, it was buried among summer weeds and some of the leaves got bruises.

葉っぱだけでなく、枝まで赤いです。

Even the twigs are red.

去年、城北公園でクチナシの鬼剪定をしていた職人さんたちの許可を得て持ち帰った10cmほどの枝は、挿し木が活着したあと今年の春に１個だけ花が咲きました。その花からの実がいま色づいています。緑色の葉っぱを背景に朱色の実が映えます。もう少ししたらカレーのご飯の着色に、ターメリックの代わりに使おうと思います。

I grew this from a 10cm cutting that I got at the Johoku Park when they were trimming the gardenia hedge last year.  It had just one flower this year and the seed pod is now red and mature.  It looks nice against the green leaves.

うちのすぐ近くの路上で近所のユキヤ君に会いました。ペキニーズの男の子です。

I saw Yukiya, my neighbour's male Pekinese, when we were coming home.

他所のワンコには興味が無いようですが、人にはとても懐こいです。

He is not interested in dogs but he is very friendly towards people.
