先週の金曜日に注文した静浜クコの苗が今朝到着しました。箱を受け取った瞬間、あまりの軽さに不安を覚えたのですが、
I ordered goji berry plants last Friday and they arrived this morning. The moment I received and held the box in my hands, I felt uneasy.
Even then, I never expected such miniscule plants!
サイトの表示では「樹高約20cm」という表示でしたが、実物は10cmあるか無いか。あまりのショックで直ぐには植え付けする気にもなれず、明日まで放置することにしました。ちなみに、静浜クコというのは大実・多収品種だそうです。
On the shop's site, it said 'plant height about 20cm', but these are barely 10cm tall. I was so dismayed that I could not motivate myself to repot them straight away - I am leaving them until tomorrow. For the record, this is a variety that was selected and developed from wild goji berries growing on the beach of Shizuhama in Shizuoka Prefecture. It is said to be prolific and produce large fruits.
そんなときに元気付けてくれたのはこれ。去年の夏に練馬の渋谷園芸で買った紅筋山百合。2本のうち、色の薄いほうが今朝 先に開花しました。
At least, I had a nice surprise this morning - one of the two Red Yamayuri that I bought last summer at a shop in Nerima started blooming. Of the two, this plant's flower has lighter red streaks.
花の香りが強烈で、玄関ドアを開けたとたんに香りが襲ってきます。
The scent is so powerful that it hits my nostrils the moment I open the front door.
もう１本のほうも２-３日中に咲くでしょう。この個体の花は、もっとはっきりした紅筋が入ります。
The other one will start blooming within the next few days. The flowers of this plant will have darker streaks.
こちらは今年の冬の間にヤフオクで買った紅筋山百合で、ピンクの花びらに赤い筋が入るタイプです。
This is another kind of Red Yamayuri - I bought it during last winter. The petals are pink, with red streaks running through them.
