午後散歩　Afternoon walk

今日3度目の散歩のために、午後4時に家を出ました。城北中央公園手前の草地に着くと、遠くから小学生がタイガの名前を呼びながら走ってきました。

We set out for the 3rd walk of the day at 4:00 p.m. When we arrived at the field near the Johoku Central Park, a group of small children called out Taiga's name.

見たところ10歳以下の様々な年齢の子たちで、この草地で夕方に集まるようです。子供たちのうちの一人はこの豆柴リカちゃんの家族なので、友達が集まって一緒に遊んでいるようです。今日はいつもより人数が多めで10人以上いました。楽しそうに甲高い声で走り回っています。（あ～、しまったぁ、と私の心の声）

They are children of various ages up to 10 (it seems) who gather there every afternoon to play with this miniature Shiba Inu called Rika. The gathering today was larger than usual with more than 10 children, all shrieking with fun.

今日はシェルティの子犬のモモちゃんもいました。ふたりは子犬でエネルギーレベルが小学生と同じくらいなので、騒ぎが平気なようです。

There was also a female Shelty puppy, called Momo. Rica and Momo being puppies with high energy, they seem to be more tolerant towards kid's screams and noises.

The two seem to be fully enjoying the situation.

一方、10歳のタイガばあちゃんにとっては大試練。子供たちはとても行儀が良くて、タイガに触っても良いか、まず私に尋ねてきました。「大丈夫」の答えで、タイガはもみくちゃにされていました。ブログによその子供の写真を載せてはいけないので、なるべく子供が離れたときに撮った写真です。

It was not the same with Taiga. The kids were polite enough to ask me if it was all right to touch Taiga. But they were very noisy and their hands were all over Taiga. These photos were taken so as to avoid images that could enable identifying children.

タイガを撫でたりするのは分かるけど、コレ↓は何？　子供の考えること、分かりません。でもタイガは始終、ストイックに耐えていました。幸い4時半の帰宅を促すアナウンスが近くの小学校から聞こえてきたので、それを合図に子供たちは帰って行きました。随分と聞き分けの良さに、内心あっけにとられてしまいました。

And, what does this mean? Kids! Taiga was patient enough to stay calm the whole time. It was a great relief when the 4:30 p.m. announcement to encourage kids to go home came from the nearby elementary school. The kids took it as a cue to release Taiga. They were amazingly obedient and well behaved - I was not like that when I was a kid.

小学生たちと別れたあとは、橋を渡って中央公園へ移動。夕方でもう人気がないので、狂気のような騒ぎのあとではホッとする静けさです。

After parting with the kids, we crossed the river to walk in the Johoku Central Park. Since it was near dusk, there were hardly any people and we relaxed.

そこへ黒柴のソラ君がやって来ました。かなり長い間会っていなかったので、随分と小柄になった印象で最初は分かりませんでした。でもワンコ同士はすぐに分かったようです。ソラ君ももうすぐ10歳だそうで、タイガのように後ろ足が少し震えるときがあるそうです。

There came a Black Shiba Inu, named Sora. We have not seen him for so long that I could not recognise him. He looked shrunk - I'm sure he used to be taller. However, Taiga and Sora recognised each other right away. According to Sora's owner, he will be 10 years old soon and one of his hind legs goes wobbly sometimes, just like Taiga.
