It was rather cool this morning. As it gets colder, the deciduous trees will be turning into autumn colours soon. We reached our favourite field where it is usually deserted on weekdays.
Taiga getting into the usual business of rolling on the grass.
We were joined by a group of Golden Retrievers. One of them is our neighbour, Ume. She had wandered far away on her own but, when her mom called out to her alerting her about Taiga, she hurried back.
Ume's house lies in the direction we take whenever Taiga wants to walk through the residential area far away. As we seldom meet in the park, both Ume and Taiga were thrilled.
A beautiful morning without a speck of cloud. Although it was cold when I left home, I was perspiring in the sun as we walked in the park. Taiga standing at her favourite place, the top of a small hill, from where she can look out to spot friends passing.
Subaru, a young male Shiba mix came along, so we hurried down.
Subaru is several years younger than Taiga and needs to walk very long distances every day, just like Taiga did until 3 years ago. He has extraordinary eyes, hazel-coloured, with a piercing look.
The Chinese quince tree with lots of fruits. When the fruits become yellow and ripe, you can smell the distinct scent.
Pity these are not apples and growing in my garden....

The Bergamot tree was getting weaker every winter, so I dug it out in February this year to see how the roots were doing - they were half rotten. No wonder the branches of other citrus varieties grafted onto Bergamot were dying. Since I love the flavour of the Bergamot, I did not want to part with this variety altogether and made some cuttings.
It has been more than 1/2 year and, as there is little time left this year during which roots are still active, I took the cuttings out of the soil. The roots were surprisingly poor, considering the months that passed. Still, better than nothing.
I had completely given up doing any gardening work during the summer - it was so humid and my garden was mosquito-infested. Recently, I started tidying up the garden. As I was exhausting myself with unfamiliar work, Taiga was enjoying the view of passers-by through the fence. She pays absolutely no attention to what I do - a cat would be more solicitous.
It rained in the previous night but stopped by mid-morning. As the weather turned fine and it being Sunday, there were several groups of people enjoying picnics on the grass, when we arrived at the park at around 3:30 p.m.
It seems a bumper year this year. When the fruits become more than ripe and soft, a lot of wild birds, including rare species, come and feast on them. This, in turn, attracts a lot of bird-watchers with heavy camera equipment.
We went up to the higher ground and, to my great amazement, I saw Belgian Malinois - 3 of them at that! It being the first time for me to see them actually in the flesh, I approached one of them and managed to greet in the way I learned by watching Cesar Millan's program. I was quietly excited in my heart. This one is older than the other two, who are a brother and sister and not yet one year old. This individual seems to be well trained and quiet, but I was advised not to go near the younger ones as they are too excitable.
This is one of the younger individuals - female puppy. She is full of energy and cannot contain herself. Her brother (no photo) is under special care - his owner abandoned him finding it too difficult to control.
The older dog approaches the female puppy and gets bitten by her. What a brawl!
A long road lies ahead of the two puppies in their training - the trainer has to be incredibly patient as well as being firm.
After the noisy introduction to the Malinois, we met a very quiet, delicate and gentle Black Shiba Inu puppy named Coco. She is only 6 months old and, yet, so settled in her demeanour. Taiga, at 10 years old, was more nervous with the hair standing on her back.
Coco shows no fear of Taiga who is more than double her size.
After the quiet greeting, Taiga's hair returned to the normal state. Coco is such a sweet girl and when she smiled at me, I saw a delicate, tiny jaw with sparkling white teeth. Her muzzle is narrow and her jaw is very small and delicate.
After parting with Coco, we walked through the woods, enjoying the autumn air.
The ginkgo trees are beginning to turn yellow and, soon, they will be spectacular.
The air is crisp and makes you feel that November is only a few days away.
I have started producing videos about Taiga's everyday life. When she reached 10 years old earlier this year, her hind legs started to become a bit wobbly. This has made me wonder for how long she would be able to walk outside unaided. To be honest, I am slightly alarmed even though her blood test showed her to be in perfect health.
We went to the Persimmon Park this morning, where we met Sasuke. He is probably a Black Shiba Inu/German Shepherd mix. When he was a puppy, he looked like a German Shepherd but now he looks like a giant Black Shiba Inu. He lives almost next door to this park, so this place is like his own garden.
After Sasuke left, Taiga had a free run of the park, followed by her favourite treat. It is a paste with a disgusting taste but dogs absolutely love it (I know the taste, since a friend of mine gave one to me many years ago during a night walk without telling me that it was for dogs. She gave it to me as an exchange for a sweet I had given her).
We moved to Moroyama Park across the street, where the Japanese maple trees were starting to turn into autumn colours. These will be turning deep red in a few weeks' time.
