Goji berry etc

It rained throughout last night.  When it stopped this morning, it was as cold as winter.

Goji berry plants seem to prefer cool weather.  They went almost dead in the heatwave of the summer.   However, they began to come back towards the start of autumn and now they look like this.

This is how they were when they arrived on 16th June this year.  They looked so much smaller than in the photo of the shop's site that I could not believe my eyes.

The plant on the left is starting to flower for the second time, following the flowers at the end of summer.

In the photo, they are almost invisible, but there are a lot of flower buds, which means that the flowering will last for some time.
There was no fruit setting after the last flowering.  Likewise, the plant on the right had no fruits after the flowering in early autumn.

I cannot believe how tiny the leaves on these plants are.  These are of a named variety from Shizuoka Prefecture, but I am not sure if this is typical of them.  The goji berry plant growing on the riverbank has much larger leaves, like any other goji berry trees I have ever seen.  Actually, that plant has a lot of long and vicious looking thorns, whereas the thorns on these plants are few and they are less than 1cm long (I hope they stay that way).

The leaves of the plant on the right are slightly larger.

The edible chrysanthemums in front of the house are now in full bloom.  It is a pity that the flowers opened in these rainy days - they would have sparkled in the sun.

Nearby, another variety of chrysanthemum is staring to flower.

This is a bicolour variety with medium-sized flowers.

The wild aster at the foot of the above chrysanthemum is already finished.

I made a cup of tea with fresh flowers from the edible chrysanthemum.

Pour boiled water over the petals and cover for several minutes.

Strain the tea into a teacup.

It tastes bland on its own, so add honey and/or citrus juice to your liking.
