散歩中の植物 Flowers seen during walk

 公園近くの事業所の花壇に綺麗な牡丹が咲いていました。色の濃淡が何とも言えず美しい。これは木の下のほうの花で、

In the flower bed of an office building near the Johoku Park, there is a peony plant which produces beautiful flowers every year.   This is the wooden type of peony which is considered to be a class above the grass type.

上のほうには半開きの花と蕾があります。

In addition to the fully open flower at the bottom of the tree, there are two flower buds at the top, with one of them half open.

この段階では色が濃く、違った美しさ。

The colour of the half-open flower is much deeper.

駐車場として放置されている空き地の隅っこに咲いていた白花のタンポポ。園芸店で売られるピンクの品種は暑さに弱くて日本の夏に耐えられないけど、この白花は野良になっているので丈夫そう。

In the field that is used as a parking lot, there was a white dandelion flower.  The pink variety that they sell in shops are not heat tolerant for Japanese summer, but this white one can survive like a weed.

個人的にはタンポポは黄色で花柄が大きいのが好みです。

Personally, I prefer the regular, yellow dandelions with large flowers.

この株のように、大きな花で花茎が短く地面のすぐ上で咲くのが理想。

Like this plant, with large flowers and short flower stems.

民家の脇の良く手入れされている花壇。

There was a well-maintained flower bed next to a private house.

アセビの新芽が目立っています。こんなに赤い新芽のは見たことがない。

Japanese andromeda with new leaf buts - the red buds are quite ornamental.

花を確認。

This is a white flower variety (there is a pink version, too).

花と新芽の両方が楽しめます。

You can enjoy both the flowers and new leaves at the same time.

前に一度会ったことのあるトイプードルが通りかかりました。タイガよりもずっと年上の子ですが、小型犬なので動きが比較的 若々しいです。

We came across a Toy Poodle whom we had met before.  He is much older than Taiga but, as a small breed, his movements are steady in spite of his age.

着ている洋服が何ともカワイイ。ペットの服をデザイン・製作する人って、技だけではなくよほど愛情もってやっているのがうかがえます。

His outfit is so sweet.  People who design and make clothes for pets must not only have the skill but also lots of love for the creatures.

両方のポケットは、ちゃんと物が入るようになっている本物です。

The pockets at the back are for real and you could put something in.

柑橘類など Citrus Plants etc

 バルコニーに置いてあるトゲ無しリスボンレモンの開花が始まったので、実を収穫することにしました。

The Lisbon Lemon plant on the balcony has started to bloom, so I decided to pick the fruits.

2個の実の間に蕾が出ています。

There is a flower bud between the two fruits.

リスボンレモンの花は大きくてしっかりしています。

Lisbon Lemon's flowers are substantial.

去年が初結実で、生ったのは２個だけなのでサイズが大きく、柄も含めると572gでした。

Last year was the first time for fruit setting.   Although the tree produced only two fruits, they weighed 572g including the stems.

バルコニーの東側に置いてあるタヒチライムは開花が本格的になっています。

The Tahiti Lime, on the east side of the balcony, is nearly in full bloom.

リスボンレモンに比べると華奢な花で、香も繊細。これから幼果がどんどんできそうです。

The flowers are smaller than those of Lisbon Lemon, and the scent is more delicate.  I am hoping to see lots of young fruits soon.

受粉を期待して隣においてあるキーライムは変化なしで、普通に開花しそうな気配が見られない。

There has been no change in the flowers of the Key lime, which I placed next to the Tahiti Lime, hoping that cross pollination would produce fruits.  I wonder if the flower buds are going to open at all.

白花サギゴケと紫の野良の開花も進んでいます。

More flowers on the Mazul miquelii Makino.  The purple flowers are of a wild variety from a nearby field.

山椒も葉っぱが茂ってきたので、葉が柔らかいうちに一度は利用したい。何年も前に地元JAで「葉山椒」として売られていた180円の挿し木苗でしたが、

Fresh leaves on the Japanese pepper.  Although the plant belongs to the citrus family, it is deciduous.  This plant was sold as a male tree when I bought it many years ago, but

育ってみると雌木で毎年実をつけるようになりました。ただし、私は刺激の強いものは苦手なので実は放置。

when it grew, it turned out to be a female tree and started producing peppers.  However, the fruits are too spicy for me, so I use just the young leaves.

エビネ蘭の季節になりました。何年も前に通販で買った苗ですが、今年は花茎が増えて見ごたえあります。エビネは病気にかかりやすい植物だそうですが、今のところ問題ありません。この株の他に強い香りのあるコオズ系のと、微香の黄花の株がありますが、同様に丈夫に育っています。

The yellow flower Ebine orchid has started to bloom.  I bought this plant on the internet some years ago, and the flower stems have been increasing.  Ebines are said to be prone to diseases but, so far, I have not had that problem fortunately.  I have two other varieties of Ebine and they are also healthy.

エビネを眺めていたら、フェンスの向こうを顔見知りが通りました。いつもは夕方散歩で見かける子たちで、タイガよりも高齢のポメラニアン。左のクルミちゃんが必死で私のほうへ来ようとしています。

As I was looking at the Ebine, I saw familiar faces passing by on the other side of the fence.  They are two Pomeranians whom we usually meet during our evening walks.  They are both much older than Taiga.  The one on the left is a female, named Kurumi, wanting to come closer to me.

タイガがヤマトに挨拶しようとしますが、ヤマトは私のほうに来たそう。

When taiga tried to greet Yamato, he was more interested in coming to me.

クルミちゃんは他所の人に懐くのに時間がかかる性格だそうですが、ヤマトのほうは最初からフレンドリーでした。

According to the owner, Kurumi takes a long time to warm up to strangers, while Yamato makes friends with anyone straight away.  And, indeed, Yamato has always been affectionate with me.

私たちも散歩に行こうか？

午後散歩 Afternoon Walk

 今日の最高気温は26℃だったそうですが、体感ではもっと過ごしやすい暖かさのなか、タイガの午後散歩に出かけました。まずは茂呂山公園へ。

Another fine day.  The maximum temperature was 26℃ today, but it felt a lot more comfortable, and we went out for a walk.  Off to the Moroyama Park.

頂上手前の斜面ではツツジが満開でした。

On the slope just before reaching the top of the hill, there was a row of azaleas in full bloom.

花柄が非常に小さくて一見地味ですが、色が鮮やかなので随分と目立ちます。

These are tiny flowers, but their bright colours more than make up for it.

ピンクの花もオレンジ色のも二重咲きです。

Both the pink and orange flowers are double petaled and they are radiant in colour.

上の広場に着くと、桜が終わっているので他に人気がありませんでした。

At the top of the hill, with the cherry blossoms season over, there was no-one else.

モミジの芽吹きが始まっています。

New leaves growing on maple trees.

モミジは春と秋の二度楽しめるのでうれしい。

I love maple trees since we can enjoy them twice in a year - in spring and autumn.

私がモミジに見入っていた間、退屈したタイガがスリゴロを始めました。

While I was looking at the maples, Taiga was getting bored and started rolling over.

この太々しい目つき。

Her audacious look.

背中はゴミだらけ。

She was covered with bits of dry grass.

そのあとは城北中央公園へ。すっかり新緑の季節です。

We then moved to the Johoku Central Park.  The fresh leaves on trees were sparkling in the sun.

林の中を歩いていると、なぜか昨日通ったときよりも明るい印象。

As we were walking through the woods, I felt it was lighter than the previous day.

どうやら業者が来て剪定したようで、大枝を運び去ったあとの掃除で出た葉っぱや小枝の詰まった袋がありました。

It seems that tree surgeons have been at work.  After they took away the large branches, they left bags of leaves and twigs.

紅の夢 Kurenai-no-Yume

 紅の夢が咲き始めました。開花した状態でも花びらがピンクなので、けっこう可愛いです。

The red-fleshed variety called 'Kurenai-no-Yume' has started to bloom.  The petals remain pink after fully opening and look so pretty.

蕾が膨らむにつれて赤から濃いピンクへと変わり、開花で優しいピンク、の変化が気に入っています。
The colour is red when tight flower buds, which changes into deep pink as the buds grow, and finally the colour becomes soft pink when flowers are open.

グラニースミスは更に開花が進んでいます。

More flowers are open on the Granny Smith plant.

このクラスター↓は昨日授粉したもので、いったん受粉が済むとさっさと花びらを落とし始めます。

The flowers in this cluster were pollinated yesterday.  As soon as pollination is done, flowers seem to start shedding the petals.

下の写真では、黄色で囲んだクラスターは昨日で受粉済み、赤は今日 授粉作業を行ったところ。

In the photo below, the cluster circled with yellow was pollinated yesterday, and the cluster in the red circle was done today.

蕾はまだまだ残っています。
