公園で At the park

ようやくコロナワクチン明けです。10月1日の金曜日に2回目のワクチン接種を受けて、まる1週間のたうち回る生活でした。8日目の今朝は、悲鳴を上げずに起き上がれたし、また朝食後ソファーで休んだ後も、どこにもつかまらずに立ち上がりました。このままそうっと暮らせば、2，3日後には全快でしょう。

久しぶりの柿の木広場。練馬区は毎日学校のスピーカーで外出の自粛を呼びかけているので、柿の木と茂呂山公園はめったに人に会いません。きょうも貸し切り状態。

The effect of the second vaccine is finally starting to wear off this morning - I suffered for fully 7 days after getting the shot.  We headed towards the Persimmon Park.  There was no-one else.  The Nerima Ward Office asks us every day through the loud speaker of schools not to go out unless absolutely necessary.  So, we had the park to ourselves, as usual.

この品種は不完全甘柿ですが、甘柿が珍しかった昔はきっと貴重な品種だったのでしょう。

Some of them are ready to be picked and in a few weeks, wild birds will start feasting on the over-ripe fruits.

タイガは若いときは呼んでも来なかったのですが、８歳の今は少し反応します。今日も試しに呼んでみたら、奥の坂の上にいたのが走り下りてきました。

Taiga at 8 years old has become more responsive to my calls than before.  When I called out, she came rushing down from the top of the slope.

As I was getting complacent, 

途中でコース変え？

she changed her course.

横のほうへ行ってしまいました。

Well, that's a Kaiken for me - only interested in her own needs.

今度は思わせぶりの身振りで名前を呼んだら、

When I changed my tone to call her name,

勝手に解釈して嬉しそうに戻ってきました。

she interpreted it to be for an invitation to a treat.

自分で「ベンチタイムが来た」と決めたようです。

'I'll go ahead and wait for you, mom.'

オヤツさえ与えれば帰る流れになるので、タイガに合わせることにしました。

'I'm waiting....♪'

今日はまだヨダレが出ていない。

帰り道、我が家のすぐ手前のところで柴犬のチャチャちゃんに会えました。たまーにしか会えませんが、タイガのことは憶えています。

Just before we reached home, we met a female Shiba Inu after a long time.

聞くと、チャチャちゃんはタイガと同じ８歳だそうです。

Named 'Chacha', she is the same age as Taiga, 8 years old.

細くて小さいせいか、まだ子犬っぽい雰囲気です。タイガもダイエット頑張ろう。

Perhaps because Chacha is small and slim, she still looks like a puppy, which makes me think that I should be more careful with Taiga's weight.

チーズパン Cheese Bread

 スーパーのパンコーナーにでも売っているようなチーズパンを作ってみました。いつもは動画の中で使ったチーズ角切りの半分くらいしか使わないのですが、今回はどこで切ってもチーズが顔を出すようにどっさり使いました（後で食べるとき、しんどかったです）。

I made cheese bread with lots of cheese cubes.  With far less amount of cheese, this is one of the breads that are readily available in the bread section of supermarkets in Japan.

ナツメの食べ比べ Comparing Jujube Varieties

 今年１個だけ生った鉢植えの大雪ナツメ（スーパージャイアント）が半分色づいたので、待ちきれずにもいで来ました。ナツメは全面的に茶色になった状態よりも、半分色づいたのがサクサクして好みです。

写真左の３個は新疆棗王、右の１個が大雪棗です。

１個ずつ糖度を測ってみました。25.9度です。

一番青いのは26.1度。

最後に、大雪棗の糖度は何と46.4度でした。全部食べてみると、確かに大雪棗のが一番甘かったですが、私の舌では大して違いがない印象です。しかも、全部食べたあとは、口の中の水分が持って行かれて急いで水を飲みました。ナツメは、晩生のスモモが終わった後キウイのレインボーレッドが食べられるまでのつなぎ的な位置づけでしたが、これなら秋生りのイチジクを地植えにしたほうが良さそうに思えてきました。ビオレッタなら地植えにしても小さく管理できそうだし、夏果より秋果のほうが断然美味しいので。

46.4%    To be honest, I cannot tell much difference among them - they are all dry, though sweet.

フィンガーライム：ダラムズエメラルド Finger Lime: Durham's Emerald

 コロナワクチン２回目で大変な経験をした人たちの話によると、摂取後3日間はのたうち回って苦しむけど、4日目にはウソのように治っていたそうです。私の場合、今日が3日めなので、あと少しで解放されるという希望を抱いて頑張りました。本当にこの激痛が消えるのでしょうか。

去年の夏に花〇ろばから購入したダラムズエメラルドの実が、最近までは真っ黒だったのが少し赤味を帯びてきました。苗を買った当時は高めの価格設定と思っていましたが、それに恥じない結果を出してくれています。

I bought this Durham's Emerald plant in summer last year and it is already producing quite a few fruits.  The plant was not cheap but I feel it was well worth the price.

今、赤っぽくなっているのは第１回めの開花からの実です。完熟になると自然に落果するそうですが、待てない心境です。

There were two fruit settings, and the fruits from late spring are looking mature enough, although they have not started to fall off naturally.

ナイフを入れたとたん、なかからジュワジュワと湧き出してきました。正にカタログ写真のようで、びっくりして眺めているうちにも動きが止まりません。これは断面を真上から撮ったもの。

I let it lie down.  Imagine this happening without my squeezing the fruit.

念のため、残った分を自分で押し出してみました。何とも嬉しいことに、種が一個も見当たりません。これなら料理のガーニッシュとして使うのに手ごろです。それにしても綺麗な緑色、かつ透明感もあります。味は、もう真夜中で歯を磨いた後だったので、まだ試していません。

To see how much would come out, I did in the end squeeze the outer skin.  To my delight, I did not see any seeds - this would be a wonderful garnish for a dish.  Look how beautiful the colour is!  It is green, at the same time icy clear.

なぜか、タイガが勝手に落ち込んでいました。ちゃんと朝晩の散歩、プラス昼寝後のショート散歩は平常どおり行っているのですが。

Taiga looking dejected?  Even though I am suffering from the effects of the 2nd Covid shot, I am keeping up with the daily walks - more than 1 hour each in the morning and at night, as well as a short walk after she wakes up from an afternoon nap.

公園で At the park

 金曜日にコロナワクチンの2回目の摂取を受けたのですが、その副反応が今日も続いています。金曜日の夜は急にカゼをひいたような症状で、寒気と節々の痛みがありました。昨日の土曜日からは、腰の左側で筋肉が神経を圧迫（その逆？）していて、少しでも体を動かすと激痛が走ります。一人暮らしでワンコの世話に支障が出るのがこわくてワクチン接種を渋っていましたが、やっぱり来たかという心境です。

それでもタイガの散歩を怠ることはできないので、そうっと、そうっと、公園へ向いました。途中の道で出会った初めての子、小さなトイプードルがタイガを見て近づいてきました。名前はユッキー君、5歳だそうです。

ふたり並んだところを写真に撮ろうと、飼い主さんと一生懸命あやしたのですが、ワンコは人間の思うようにはいきません。離れて立ったり、

On our way to the park, a tiny toy poodle came rushing towards Taiga - 5-year old male, named Yukki.  His mom and I wanted to take pictures of them standing side by side but it proved to be impossible.

Dogs do what they want, and we humans are there to serve them.

しまいには地べたに腹ばい。

公園入口の草地で会った極小サイズのヨーキー。名前はコツブ君で、7歳だそうです。タイガのことを怖がらずに自分から寄ってきました。

When we arrived at the park, a tiny Yorkie came towards us - 7-year old male, named Kotsubu (means 'tiny grain' in Japanese).

キラキラ光るコートの子なので、写真写りはイマイチですがとても可愛いです。私は撫でたくてもかがみこむことができないので、上からシャッターを切るだけです。

His coat is too shiny which makes it difficult to get decent photo of him.

後ろから、洋服が写るようにポーズ。背中のポケットにはちゃんと物が入るそうです。

His jacket has a pocket on the back and it is a genuinely usable pocket.

ドッグランへ向かう途中の坂道。雲一つない抜けるような青空です。

We headed towards the dog park.  The sky was absolutely beautiful after the typhoon 2 days ago.

勇み足になるタイガを叱りながら、同時に悲鳴を上げながらの移動。もう、呼吸困難になりそうな激痛です。

ラン手前の坂道は両側にイチョウの実が落ちていて臭いがキツイです。

Ginkgo nuts all over the place with their attendant smell makes you realise that it is that time of the year.

ランに入ると、初めて見る柴たちが近づいてきました。

We went into the dog park and two Shibas came to check Taiga.

この子は名前が書いてあるので分かりやすい。ノイン君。

ノイン君は明らかに年下ですが、タイガのほうが緊張してるのが耳と背中の毛の状態でうかがえます。

Neun is obviously relaxed but Taiga, who is much older, is looking a little tense.

そこへ新たに入ってきたゴールデンの子をフレンチブルドッグのホップ君とタイガがチェック。

ゴールデンの飼い主さんがボールを投げたので、皆して追いかけて直ぐに打ち解けていました。

They soon became friends when the owner threw a toy for them to chase.

今日はフレンチブルドッグ祭り状態。真っ黒いフレブルの男の子が、よその飼い主さんに背中をカキカキしてもらっていました。

他所の飼い主さんが差し出した冷たい水を美味しそうに飲んでいます。

大きな子が到着。一見、アイリッシュウルフハウンドのように見えましたが、スタンプーとゴールデンのミックス（ゴールデンドゥードル）だそうです。名前はチェスター君、4歳。

飼い主さんによると、よくアイリッシュウルフハウンドに間違えられるそうです。

A huge dog came in, looking like an Irish Wolfhound.  According to the owner, he is a Goldendoodle, named Chester, 4 years old.

タイガは珍しくズケズケと臭い嗅ぎに近づいていきます。緊張しながら。

まだ背中の毛が立っている。

Nevertheless, Taiga does it cautiously (the hair standing).

Satisfied?

チェスター君はとても落ち着いていて4歳とは思えないくらい。タイガの4歳の頃はまだシャカシャカしていて、初めての子を見ると飛んで行って遊びに誘っていました。

通りがかりの人がチェスター君のサイズに凝視。子牛のように大きいです。

ポテトタルト Sweet Potato Tarts

 お店であまり見かけない紫芋を買えたので、タルトにしてみました。お芋クリームの部分にだけ、バニラオイルを入れなかったので、ふんわりしたお芋の風味が伝わってきました。

Sweet potato tarts with purple and cream-coloured ones.  No vanilla oil was put in the potato cream and I could tell the subtle potato flavour.
