また会えた Meeting again

 昨日公園デビューした豆柴のケビン君に今朝も会えました。おこちゃまを前にタイガはクールを装っています。

We met Kevin again, the miniature Black Shiba puppy, that we saw yesterday when he made his debut in the park.  Taiga tried to look indifferent.

ケビン君はそんなことにはお構いなく

It had no effect on Kevin,

どんどん近づいて来ます。

and he rushed towards Taiga with his puppy excitement.

しつこいのでママに引き戻されました。

As he was getting a bit too much, Kevin's mom pulled him back to relieve Taiga.

物怖じしない性格なので、これからどんどん犬社会のルールを学んでいくはずです。ママによると、昨日さっそく2歳の男の子にマウントしようとしてマジ切れされたそうです。幸い去勢済みの子だったそうですが、未去勢ならケガする危険もあります。

He is less than 4 months old and, with his outgoing nature, he will be learning a lot about the necessary manners in the dog community.  According to his mom, he tried to mount on a 2-year old male yesterday, who went berserk.  Fortunately, he was a neutered male - an intact male might have injured Kevin.

公園で At the park

 昨夜は少し雨が降りましたが、朝散歩の時間までには綺麗に晴れて公園は清々しい秋の日。

It rained during the night but, by the time we went out for a morning walk, the weather was beautiful and dry.

いつもの公園入口の草地で朝日を浴びながらくつろぎましたが、うっかり墓地が背景になってしまいました。

We rested on the grass near the park entrance, enjoying the warm sun.

カンタがやって来ました。

タイガの姿は見え見えなのに奇襲攻撃の体勢。

Taiga thinks that she is invisible and prepares to ambush Kanta. 

明るい時間に会うのは久しぶりなので、二人とも嬉しそうです。このあと公園上の林へ移動してたっぷり遊ばせました。

Kanta is 7 years old and we have known him since he was a tiny puppy.  Kanta, Hina, Sena and Taiga seem to be aware that they are of the same breed, judging the way they interact with each other.  We moved to a more isolated part of the park to let them run freely.

帰りしな出会った初対面の子犬。
On our way out of the park, we met a new face.

もうすぐ生後4か月になる黒い豆柴の男の子で、名前は「ケビン」君。何と、今日が公園デビューだそうです。怖いもの知らずでタイガにもグングン近寄ろうとします。

A miniature Black Shiba Inu, less than 4 months old, named "Kevin".  Today is the first day in the park for Kevin and he is all excited.  He has a happy temperament and also he has not experienced the "puppy fear periods".  So, he tries to get closer to Taiga with all his strength.

当初の興奮が収まったので、今度はもう少し落ち着いてタイガに紹介します。

Kevin's owners tried to calm him down, which was a very sensible thing to do.

本当はタイガに遊んでほしくてうずうずですが、タイガのエネルギーレベルが低すぎです。でも、公園では様々な子犬に会えるので、この明るい性格ならいくらでも遊び相手が見つかるでしょう。

Kevin is much calmer now, but Taiga is too old to accommodate him.  However, in this park, there is no shortage of puppies and Kevin will have a very happy childhood with his pleasing temperament.

公園で At the park

 ここ２，３日は秋晴れが続いていて、公園での散歩がとても心地よいです。タイガは天気よりもオヤツのほうが気になるようですが、到着したばかりなので座り込まれても私は応じません。

We have been enjoying a fine weather for the last several days and having a walk in the park is really pleasant.  Taiga is more interested in getting a treat but, hey, we have just arrived, so you are not getting anything yet.

何も出ないと分かって以来、撮影には非協力的。

Having realised that treat would be delayed, she became uncooperative with posing for the camera.

この林はイチョウの木だけでなくケヤキなどが綺麗に色づく場所。広い公園は、同じ種類の落葉樹でも場所によって紅葉の仕方やタイミングが異なります。

This wooded part of the park is a good place to just stand still, enjoying the dry air with woody scents and getting drowned in the birds' singing.

この古代家のある林はトウカエデがそろそろ優しい赤に色づくのが楽しみ。

Some of these trees will be turning slightly red soon.

上のほうばかり見ていたら、最近知り合いになった子がやって来ました。ブルドッグのブンタ君。いつもは一緒に飼われているブルテリアの子と共に散歩ですが、今日は一人。ブルドッグはこの上目遣いが何とも言えない。

As I was absorbed in the views above, I didn't notice the approach of a dog that we met recently.  He is a young Bulldog, named Bunta.  Normally, he is with his Bull Terrier brother but today, he's got his mom to himself.  The way he looks up is so endearing.

とてもフレンドリーな子で必死にタイガに近寄ろうとしますが、10歳のタイガとはエネルギーの差があり過ぎなのを飼い主さんは理解しているようで、程よい距離を保っていただけました。

He is extremely friendly and tries to get closer to Taiga.  However, his mom understands the difference in energy levels between this young dog and Taiga who is 10 years old, and she keeps a tight rein on him.  Hope we will meet him again soon.

公園で At the park

 午後の散歩で公園に着くと、豆柴のリカちゃんがいました。いつものように興奮状態でタイガの前を走り回っていました。

We went to the Johoku Central Park for the afternoon walk, where we met Rika, the miniature Shiba Inu, less than 6 months old.  She is always excited to see other dogs like a spring-driven puppet.

飼い主さんに投げてもらったボールを加えて自慢げです。まだ生後半年くらいですが、いつ見てもカワイイ。しかも、自分の存在が人間に及ぼす影響をよーく理解しているもよう。

She looks proud holding a toy in her mouth.  She is so incredibly cute and she knows the effect she produces on humans who happen to look at her.

きょうは冷たい強風が吹いて初冬のような空気でした。

We had strong chilly winds all day.

こんなに寒くてもタイガは冷たい草の上でスリゴロ。よほど皮下脂肪が厚いのかも。

Nevertheless, Taiga enjoyed a good rolling on the cold grass.  She must have a thick layer of fat under her coat.

林の中を通って、公園の上のほうへ向かいます。

We headed towards the upper part of the park, walking through the woods.

冷たい風で黄葉が進んでいます。

Thanks to the cold air, leaves are turning into autumnal colours.

かえりしなに会った初対面の子。黒柴、6歳の男の子で、名前はリクちゃん。

A new face: 6-year old, male Black Shiba Inu, named Riku.

こぢんまりした顔がカワイイです。

He has a comical but cute small face.

公園で At the park

 早朝散歩で四中横の草地に着くと、近所のマーク君がいました。マー君の家とうちとでは20メートルくらいしか離れていないし、タイガが公園デビューした日に知り合った子なので、この10年間ずっと仲良し。マー君はタイガより１歳上の11歳です。

When we arrived at the park, we saw Mark, my neighbour's Jack Russell Terrier, 11 years old.  His house is only 20 meters away from ours.  Moreover, Taiga met Mark when she went to the park for the first time as a newly arrived puppy.  As a result, they have been good friends for the last 10 years.

さっそくタイガが「遊ぼ！」のプレイバウをしましたが、

Taiga made a play bow, but

なかなか歯車がかみ合わない。

they didn't seem to hit it off this morning.

終始、行き違いの遊びでした。

マー君が去ったあとは恒例の草風呂。

After Mark was gone, Taiga started to enjoy rolling over the cool grass.

そこへ草地の反対側にいた子たちが近づいてきました。

Then, we saw familiar faces approaching us from the opposite side of the field.

仲良しの子たちです。シュナウザーのトム、柴犬のカリー君とコンちゃん。

Tom, a male Schnauzer, and Curry and Kon, both male Shiba Inu.

いつもは控えめなカリー君がタイガとじゃれ始めました。

The usually shy Curry and Taiga started chasing each other.

年が近い二人なので、皆でわちゃわちゃ走り回っているときは見間違えてしまいます。

Curry and Kon are of the same age and they look almost indistinguishable when they join a chase with several dogs.

トムはカリー君たちよりもずっと長い知り合いなので、呼び捨てのクセがついてしまいました。

Acquaintance with Tom goes back much further.

帰り道、ネットで注文した品物の代金を払うためにコンビニに寄りました。タイガは「7-11」や「ファミリーマート」の言葉を聞くと、お店に着くまでの道すがら、ニカニカして私の顔を見上げながら小躍りで歩きます。私が用を済ませて出てくるとオヤツがもらえるからです。

On our way home, we stopped at 7-11 to pay for the order I had placed before leaving for the morning walk.  Taiga loves to hear the names of convenience stores: "7-11" and "FamilyMart", because, when I come out of the store, she can always expect to get a treat.  So, she smiles all the way to the store, often jumping with joy.
