公園で At the park

 昨日の曇り空から一変、今日は快晴の一日でした。いつもとは違う方角から城北公園へ向いました。何週間か前にみかけた夏ミカンが色づき始めていました。集合住宅の入り口前に生えている木なので、収穫を楽しみにしている人たちがいるかも。

A beautiful morning, after a cloudy day yesterday.  We took a different route to reach the Jyohoku Park.  The fruits on the Japanese summer orange tree in front of a block of flats are turning yellow at last.

実が色づくと以前は気づかなかったものも見えてきます。奥のほうに、もう2個あります。

As the fruits started to ripen, I noticed that there were two more at the back of the tree.

陽光面でないので色づき始めたばかり。

Being in the shade, they have only just started to turn yellow.

橋を渡ると公園に到着です。

The park lies across the river.

その前に橋の上で記録写真を一枚。混合ワクチン依頼、ダイエットに取り組んでいますが、ほんの少しだけ効果が見えてきたので記録。と、思ったのに、帰宅してしゃしんを見たらベストなポーズではありませんでした。実際はもっとスリムに見えるのです。おまけに、協力する気のないタイガなので尻尾が下がっている。

Before crossing the bridge, I took a photo of Taiga.  Since a few weeks ago, she has been on a diet and I wanted to confirm with a photo - unfortunately, this was not the right angle (the tummy is not tucked in).  She is a little slimmer than this.

川を超えると涼しい林が広がります。

We crossed the river to enter the park.

久しぶりに会った巨大キャバリアの女の子。同じように巨大な「キャバ」ちゃんかと思ったら、もうひとりの子でした。

We met a female Cavalier whom we had not seen for a few years.  She is a huge specimen of Cavalier and her dad is also trying to put her on a diet.

タイガのことをあまり覚えていないのか、私にはスリスリしてきたのにタイガに対しては引いていました。

その後は林の中を散策。

We had a heavy rain 2 days ago and the trees have lost quite a lot of leaves.

甲斐犬は15-6歳くらいまで生きると言われていますが、タイガが自分の足で公園まで来られる「健康年齢」を考えると、現在の9歳半からあと何年か分からないので、なるべく沢山の思い出と写真を残したいです。そのためにも、ダイエット！

Taiga is 9 1/2 years old and she may have 4-5 years more to be able to walk to this park.  To make sure of that, I want her to lose weight so that the burden on her legs would be much less.

道を渡って別の草地へ移動。

We crossed the road to another field, where

これまた久しぶりの再会。柴犬のミオウ（美桜）ちゃんです。

we met Miou, a young female Shiba Inu, after a long time.

相変わらず朗らかな女の子。

She is a bouncy, happy girl.

タイガを遊びに誘いますが、タイガにとって弾けすぎのミオウちゃんにはタジタジ。

So bouncy that she invites Taiga to play, but Taiga was too old for that.

その後は公園上の古代家のある林へ移動。

We moved to the higher ground.

２日前の雨で葉っぱがほとんど落ちています。

Here, the deciduous trees are almost bare after the rain.

この林はこれが今年の見納めでしょう。

This is probably the last opportunity for this year.

道を渡った向こうの草地ではノムラもみじが色づいていました。

We moved to the field across the road, where a Japanese maple tree was turning red.

常緑樹を背景にすると、赤い葉が浮き立ちます。このときは風が吹いて枝が揺れていたので一層綺麗でした。

The branches were swaying in the wind, which made the leaves more attractive.

帰り道。この角度から見るとダイエット効果が現れています。さらに頑張って、背中に触ると背骨が感じられるほどになるのが目標です。そこまで行けば、脚への負担もかなり軽減されるはず。

Going home.  Taken from this angle, Taiga's diet seems to be working.

川沿いの歩道脇に映えている「寒椿」の花が綺麗です。この地域の歩道のサザンカというと、これです。花の匂いも葉っぱの形状もサザンカですが、名前は椿。

This sasanqua variety is the most commong type planted on road side or as fences, but I love these flowers.  They remind me of Hansa rose.

洋ナシのクランブルパイ Pear Crumble Pie

 今年も洋ナシが店に並ぶ季節。ラ・フランスが目玉商品で売られていたので、クランブルパイを作ってみました。クランブルパイはリンゴをフィリングに使うのが一般的ですが、洋ナシで作ると香水のような香りがして格別に美味しい。

I saw pears at a reasonable price in the shop, so I took advantage of the opportunity and made a crumble pie.  I added crushed almonds to the crumbles, and dried cranberries to the pear filling, which made a difference.

公園で At the park

 昨日は一日中雨でしたが、今朝は雲ひとつない青空。城北公園の中央へ向いました。入口の広場では１本だけあるハゼの木の紅葉が始まっていました。

It rained all day yesterday and, in contrast, the day started with a clear blue sky without a spec of cloud.  The Japanese wax tree at the entrance of the park was turning red.

いつもの林を通って上のほうへ向います。

We walked through the woods to go up to the higher grounds.

犬友の間で「窪地」と呼ばれている広場へ上がる階段。タイガにポーズを取らせてダイエット効果を確認。ちょっとだけ腰のあたりにくびれができています。

I called Taiga's name so that she would pause for the camera.  She has been on a diet for nearly 10 days and I could see some progress around her waist.

窪地はいつも静かで読書好きな人には最適かも。

更に歩いていると、向こうの草地にヒナとセナの姿が見えました。タイガに教えると耳がピンッ！

As we went up the slope, I could see the Kaiken sisters, Hina and Sena, in the distance.  The moment I mentioned their names to Taiga, her ears plucked up.

つい先日会ったばかりなのに熱狂的な挨拶。

They greeted each other passionately even though they had seen each other only a few days ago.

そのうち、セナが地面をホリホリ。

Sena starts digging a hole.

次いでヒナが同じ場所をホリホリ。

Hina takes over.

こんな天気の良い日に、人影の少ない草地で思いっきり遊ばせることができてラッキーです。

We were so lucky to let the dogs play to their hearts content on such a beautiful day.

偶然にですが、セナがカメラ目線でポーズをとったかのような写真を撮れました。

I managed to get a photo of Sena as she turned her face in my direction - it was not contrived.

帰りはさっきの林で一休みしてから。

We rested in the woods we had passed through earlier, before heading home.

公園で At the park

 明日は曇りの予報なので、今日の晴れているうちに黄葉を楽しんでおくことにしました。今年は寒かったけど11月になってからは温暖な気候なので、紅葉の進行が遅い気がします。公園のケヤキはまだ緑色。

Another fine morning.  Since tomorrow is forecast to be cloudy, I decided to fully enjoy the weather and the trees in autumn colours while I could.

久しぶりに川沿いの道を通って、向こう側から公園上を目指すことにしました。

The ginkgo trees along the path next to the sports ground were all golden. 

突然、タイガを呼ぶ声がしました。

We suddenly heard someone calling Taiga.

甲斐犬のヒナとセナ、本当に久しぶりです。会えない原因は、時間帯のズレだけでなく、タイガは四中横の草地（城北公園の一部）まで来るともう満足で、この中央まで来ることはめったになくなったからです。

Suddenly, there appeared two Kaiken females, Hina (black brindle) and Sena (white coat).  I cannot even remember when we last met.

新しい発見事項を教えていただきました。白いコートのセナとタイガは血縁関係にあるそうです。タイガの母親である「吉備真紅」は、セナの母方曽祖母に当たるそうで、かなり近い血縁と言えます。

I had a surprise news.  Apparently, Taiga and Sena are blood relatives.  Sena being a white-coated Kai, she is not issued a pedigree certificate.  So, her owner made an enquiry to the breeder and found out that Taiga's mother is the maternal great grandmother of Sena.  She found this out only recently and when she shared the news with me this morning, we all got excited.

外見があまり似ていないのは、タイガは顔は母親にウリふたつ、コートの色も同じ赤虎です。体格は父親である「榛名の英心」譲りの大柄です。

Sena may not look like Taiga and the reason perhaps is because she takes after her paternal side.  On the other hand, Taiga's face is exactly that of her mother, as well as the coat colour, while her bone structure comes from her father, a large champion dog.

ヒナは黒虎。本当に黒いので、写真にとると表情が分かりにくいほど。

Hina, a black brindle Kai, is as dark as night.

ヒナたちと別れたあとは、古代家の林を通って帰ることにしました。

After parting with the Kai sisters, we passed through the woods where the reconstructed ancient dwelling was.

トウカエデが綺麗に紅葉しています。

公園出口の草地へ続く林はいつもヒンヤリ。

We then walked down to the woods near the exit of the park.

イチョウの木の根元が黄色いカーペットのようになっています。

The fallen leaves of ginkgo trees covering the ground like a carpet.

タイガにポーズを取らせようとしていたら、近くを通りかかった友達に気をとられています。

When I was trying to get a good picture of Taiga, her attention was distracted by a passer-by.

勝手に飛び出していって挨拶。ボーダーのカイ君。

An old friend, male Border Collie named Kai.

カイ君はタイガより年下のせいか、下手に出ています。

Kai is younger than Taiga and shows a bit of respect towards Taiga.

久しぶりに会えたので大興奮のタイガはとにかく遊びたい。

Since it has been such a long time since last meeting, Taiga was eager to play.

タイガ一人ではしゃいでいる印象で、見ているほうがちょっと恥ずかしい。

Taiga was so eager that it was almost embarrassing to watch as her mom.

やっと落ち着きました。

Finally, they calmed down.

珍しくはしゃいだので、林の際で少し休ませてから帰路につきました。

After all that exertion, we rested a while before leaving the park.

公園そばのマンションの入り口に毎年咲いている小菊。菊は嫌地が出るそうでうちのは今年は悲惨な状況でした。それが、この花壇のは完全放置、しかも庭木との混合。それでも毎年見事な花を咲かせます。

Pretty chrysanthemum flowers at the entrance of a block of flats near the park.  These flowers seem to thrive in this spot and I look forward to seeing them every year.

私は昔ながらの臭いの強い菊が好きなのですが、これもそうです。
