朝散歩 Morning Walk

 石神井川沿いを歩いていたら、久しぶりにシェルティーのアキちゃんに会えました。以前は城北公園で遭遇するのが普通でしたが、これもコロナの影響です。

As we were walking along the Shakujii River, we ran into Aki, a 7-year old female Shelty.  We used to meet each other quite often at the Johoku Central Park, but that was before Covid.

タイガのことを覚えていてくれたようです。

そこへ、最近知り合いになった白い子犬がやって来ました。一見、巨大なポメのように見えますが、実はポメとマラミュートとのミックスだそうです（体格の格差ありすぎ）。

A white puppy arrives.  Taiga and I met him only recently.  He is a (get this) Pomeranian-Malamute mix.  How irresponsible some owners can be.  At any rate, he is a very happy-go-lucky, friendly puppy of 7 months old.

名前は「大福」君、生後7か月のホヤホヤ。怖いもの知らずで、初めて会ったときから喜んで飛んで来ます。

His name is Daifuku which means a kind of mochi.  He is still a very excitable puppy and rushes towards Taiga

タイガばーちゃんと挨拶できました。

Taiga greets him quietly.

シェルティーのアキちゃんは７歳の女の子。ここでもダイフク君は遠慮なく近づきます。

He then greeted Aki, in the same excited way.  Aki shows him the manner of an older sister.

遠慮なさすぎ。

ダイフク君がアキちゃんパパに挨拶。

Daifuku then focused his attention on Aki's dad.

その隙にアキちゃんが臭いチェック。

Aki checks Daifuku's scent in the meantime.

ダイフク君がいつまでたっても離れないので、アキちゃんがそばをウロウロ。

As Daifuku showed no sign of releasing Aki dad, she started getting anxious.

前足でしがみついているので、きっと狼爪（人間の親指に相当）も使っていて、アキちゃんパパの脚は相当痛いはず。

Daifuku seems to be using his dew claws to hang on to Aki dad's leg - it must be quite painful for the leg.

そこでアキちゃんはダイフク君のママに目をつけました。

Meanwhile, Aki starts focusing her attention on Daifuku's mom.

心が揺れ始めたダイフク君。

ダイフク君、やっと降りてきました。

At last, Daifuku releases the leg.

最後はみんなで仲良く挨拶。

They all had a peaceful parting.

帰り道、石神井川の岸にシラサギが一羽いるのを発見。練馬区では初めてみました。昔、仕事で滋賀県の近江八幡というところに３週間ほどいたとき、ホテルと仕事場を車で移動中に、シラサギが野菜畑にいるのをよく見かけました。

On our way home, I spotted an egret in the river - I had never seen egrets in Nerima Ward before.  

眺めていたら、そのうち飛び立って向こうへ行ってしまいました。石神井川は川底が土ではないので、水鳥の餌場に適してはおらず、カモの数も少ないです。

Soon, the bird flew away.  I hope it will find a better feeding ground elsewhere.  Shakujii River's bed is paved with concrete slabs and not suitable for water birds.

公園で At the park

 公園へ向かう途中でシン君に会えました。シン君は保護された子で非常にビビリ。タイガとは2度くらい会ったことがありますが、今朝も逃げ回っていました。夕方、私が独りでジョギングしている際に出会うと、遠くから足音を聞きつけて歩みを止めてしまうようです。実際に私の顔を見ると、うれしいような怖いようなで、飛び跳ねながら逃げ回っています。

長い脚に短い毛並み、でも頭部やシッポに一部長い毛があるので、もしかしてサルーキの血が入っているかも。

Soon after leaving home, we met Shin, a male dog of mixed breed.   He has long legs with short coat, but some of the hair on his head and tail is quite long, which makes me think that perhaps he has Saluki blood among other things.

タイガが飼い主さんと挨拶しているあいだに、ちゃっかり臭いチェック。相当勇気が要ったはずです。

He is an extremely timid dog and took advantage of Taiga greeting his dad to take a sniff.

柿の木広場へ向かう途中の、集合住宅前に植わっているナツミカンらしき木が鬼剪定されたようで、実が露出しています。これでは葉と実の数のバランスが厳しすぎ。

On our way to the Persimmon Park, I saw the citrus tree in front of a block of flats.  It seems they pruned the tree to such an extent that the fruits are all exposed.  They gave no thought to the balance between the number of leaves and fruits - such a sorry sight.

目的地の柿の木広場に着くと柴犬のキリュウ（輝龍）がいました。タイガを見て大興奮です。

When we arrived at the Persimmon Park, we were met by Kiryu, a young male Shiba Inu.  He was so excited to see Taiga, as always.

まだ３歳くらいの若造ですが、子犬のときから遠慮のない子で、しかも未去勢なのでタイガのことを同世代のガールフレンドのように扱います。

He is about 3 years old but since he was a puppy, he has had no respect to older dogs.  He treats Taiga as if she were of his age and one of his girl friends.  He is an intact male.

タイガが遊びにのってこないので、前足でチョイチョイ。よく今まで年長の大きな犬にケガさせられることなく来たな、と感心します。

As Taiga was not eager to play with such an excited dog, Kiryu started tapping Taiga's shoulder with his paw.  It is a wonder that he has avoided getting injuries inflicted by older, larger dogs.

公園で At the park

 公園へ向かう途中の道を、猫が横切りました。わざと道の反対側から出てきてウォーウォー唸って、タイガを睨みつけながら横切ります。タイガは緊張の意味でシッポを左右に振り続けています。

On our way to the park, a cat crossed the road in front of us.  He was growling all the time.  What's more, he was initially sitting on the other side of the road and, only after we got closer, he started to cross the road.  Taiga began wagging her tail as a sign of alertness.

まるでタイガを待ち伏せるかのように、民家の駐車スペースに入ったまま動きません。

The cat went into the parking space of a house and stayed there as if to ambush Taiga.

なるべく刺激しないように慎重に通り過ぎます。

We passed by trying not to provoke him.

慣れ親しんだ道で単調な散歩をしていたタイガにとって、良い刺激になったかも。

For Taiga, who had been bored walking the familiar road, this encounter might have been a welcome diversion.

公園に着いてブラブラしていたら、ヒナとセナがやって来ました。義理堅いヒナは耳を倒してタイガに甘えるような挨拶をします。

When we arrived at the park, we were joined by Hina and Sena.  Hina is a very loyal individual and greeted older Taiga with respect.

いつもの追いかけっこ。

As usual, they broke into a chase.

セナがクールに傍観しているので、ヒナがやってきました。

Sena was standing aloof all the time and Hina came to see what was wrong with her.

セナはもう十分運動したのか、誘いにのりません。

Sena probably has had enough exercise for the morning.

公園で At the park

 四中横の草地に着くと、柴犬のコンちゃんとシュナウザーのトムがいました。タイガは喜んですっ飛んでいきます。

When we arrived at the field near the Central Park, we saw Kon, a male Shiba Inu, and Tom, a male Schnauzer.  Taiga dashed out to meet them.

タイガとトムが追いかけっこを始めますが、コンちゃんは石の上に乗ったまま。子犬時代にはよくタイガを誘って走ったものですが、コロナで会わない期間が長かったせいか、今はタイガを群れの一員とはとらえていないようです。

Taiga and Tom started chasing each other, but Kon remained on the boulder.  When he was a puppy, he would invite Taiga for a chase.  However, after the Covid absence, it seems he no longer regards Taiga as a member of his pack.

孤高のコンちゃん。

みんな行っちゃったけど、いいの？

草地には他に人気がないので、トムとタイガは走り放題。

As the field was deserted, Tom and Taiga had the whole place to themselves for a run.

散々走ったあと、コンちゃんのところへ戻ってきました。

After running wild, Taiga and Tom returned to where Kon was.

コンちゃんの背中の毛が少し立っています。

Kon's hair on his back is standing a little.

タイガが離れたら少し安心。

Now relaxing as Taiga kept distance.

おやつタイム。

Treats!

地面にいるタイガが真っ先にもらえました。

おやつが終わってみんなが落ち着いたころに、時々みかける子たちが到着。

Two dogs arriving - I sometimes see them during walks but do not know their names.

奥の白い子はブルテリアだと分かりますが、手前の子はブルドッグ系のようです。どちらも非常に人懐こくてカワイイです。

Their mom knows Taiga's name, but it is too late and embarrassing for me to ask her their names now (I will ask others later).  Both are very friendly dogs.
