自家製エッグヌードル Home-made egg noodles

イタリア製のパスタを伸ばす・刻む機械を去年の夏に買ったのですが、以来かなり愛用しています。今回は強力粉 v.s. デュラム粉 の比率を２対１にして、太さの異なる２種類の麺を作りました。両方とも、とっても美味しいです。

I made egg noodles with fine semolina flour: 2 parts of plain flour, and 1 part of fine semolina.  Noodles of 2 different calibers, made from the same dough, they taste very different.

公園で At the park

 東京は今日も快晴。城北中央公園に着いた頃には陽ざしで結構暖かくなっていました。

お肉屋さん横の草地では、今年になって初めてヒナと会えました。さっそくお互い大喜びで挨拶。

We met Hina, another Kaiken, for the first time this year.  They are both so excited.

And, she allows Taiga to take a sniff, which is a rare thing for her.

「もういいじゃろっ」

ボーダーのペッパー君もいました。

There was also Pepper, a male Border Collie.

ヒナママからプレゼントを頂きました。すぐに売り切れになる品で、わざわざ再販を待って取り寄せたものだそうです。図柄は、一目でわかる甲斐犬。この立ち姿と、差し尾のしっぽ。ありがとうございました!!! 😍😍😍

せっかくのものなので、スチームアイロンをかけてから広げてみました。単なるタオルではなく、かなり凝ったものです。まるでサッカーなどのサポーターが首から下げているような長さで、縦横22cm x 107cm あります。

It is a towel sized 22cm x 107cm, sort of thing a sports supporter might wear.

公園で At the park

 公園からの帰りしな、四中横の草地を通りました。

In the field on our way home

風は無いのに一生懸命タコ揚げをしている女の子がいました。全速力で走ってタコの中に空気を入れることで何とか浮力を得ようとしています。

A little girl was doing her best to fly a kite.  'Kite' in Japanese is 'tako(凧)' which is pronounced in the same way for an octopus(鮹), and this kite is actually octopus shaped.

なべく高く見せるために、私は地面に片膝ついて撮りました。

The little girl was making a valiant effort but there was no breeze.  So I knelt down in order to make the kite look as if flying high.

ここまで上がると、タコらしく見えます。

よく頑張りましたね。

公園のあとは屋敷林を通って帰ることにしました。こんなところが近所にあって一般に開放されているなんて本当にラッキーです。

サザンカが終わって、これからは椿の季節です。

キンカン Kumquat

 去年の秋に買った安いキンカン苗の実を、おせちの飾りに使いました。

苗を買って以来、何度も雨に当たっているので、農薬に関しては中性洗剤でほぼ洗い落とせるでしょう。ということで、１個味見。その前にサイズ測定。果長は3.6cm+ ありました。

幅は3.5cm近く。これならスーパーで「タ〇タ〇」のブランド名で売られている金柑に負けていないでしょう。

試食する前に糖度計を当ててみたら15.2度ありました。とても甘くて美味しいです。

公園で At the park

 東京は今日も晴れ。例年なら正月の公園で子供たちがタコ揚げで走っている光景が見られますが、昨日・今日と風がないのでタコ揚げは見かけませんでした。

相変わらずなのが、タイガの非協力的な態度。絶対にカメラのほうを向きません。

We are enjoying a very sunny New Year with hardly a breeze.  It is hard to imagine that, on the other side of the Japan Alps that runs the length of Honshu, they have had snow storms for the last several days.

ドッグランに入ると、バーニーズのユズが内気そうなシェルティーに対してストーカー行為をして、その子が座り込んだところで臭いチェックしていました。

We went into the dog park and saw Yuzu, a female Bernese, had a timid Shelty pinned to the wall.

シェルテイーはただただ耐えて、ユズが興味をなくすことを願うだけ。

The Shelty could do nothing but to hope that Yuzu would soon lose interest.

ボーダーのモノが到着。タイガは大喜びで迎えにいきます。

Mono, male Border Collie and Taiga's favourite, arrives.  Taiga is all excited.

最近、モノはタイガと遊ぶのがかったるいようで、今日も無視気味。バーニーズのユズ（左）とハッサク（右）も迎えに来ました。

However, Mono is not in the mood to play with Taiga.  Yuzu (left) and her brother (right) also came to greet Mono.

強いユズ姐さんに凝視されておとなしくするモノ。耳が後に倒れています。

Mono was too concerned with Yuzu's powerful stare and his ears were facing backwards.

アルバスとママがランの横を通りがかって私に声をかけてきました。ママのお腹には子犬が。生後2か月の子で、まだ３回のワクチンが終わっていないそうです。犬種はアルバスとおなじラブラドゥードル。

Albas's mom called out to me as she was passing by the dog park - she had a puppy to show me.  He is only 2 months old and not allowed to play with other dogs since he has not finished his vaccines yet.  Also, he is of the same breed as Albas, i.e., Labradoodle.

そこへケアンテリアのチャンプがやってきました。

飼い主さんがチャンプを持ち上げて顔を子犬に近づけても、興奮する様子はなし。

Champ's dad lifts him to see the puppy up close.

お互い無反応の対面でした。

Absolutely no reaction on either side.

皆が子犬に興味津々のせいか、今日のアルバスはいつもの元気がない様子。

Somehow, Albas looks forlorn - he can no longer monopolise mom's affection.

帰りしな、ランの近くの林を通ったら、珍しいレオンベルガーに会えました。10年以上も前に、この公園で巨大な老犬を時々見かけましたがそれ以来です。

On our way home, we met two Leonbergers.

左は生後7か月の仔犬。右は１歳台の子。飼い主さんたちとおしゃべりし過ぎて、ワンコたちの名前や性別を尋ねるのも忘れてしまいました。この２頭はまだ幼いので、毛足も短く、顔がいかにも子供です。親たちの体重は50kg超えだそうです。

The one on the left is 7 months old, and the other one on the right 1 year old.  Both very, very calm and good-natured.

謹賀新年 Happy New Year

 新年あけましておめでとうございます。今年もよろしくお願いします。

正月に自己流のおせちを作りました。本来、おせち料理のひとつ一つに意味や言われがあるそうですが、私のはただ自分が食べたいものを詰め込んでいるだけです。

クリスマスケーキ Christmas Cake

 ブッシュドノエルを作りました。ビデオ最後に出てくるキャンドルは、８年前に作って放置していたものですが、クリスマスカラーなので使ってみました。皿に乗っているもののうち、サンタとその横にあるホリー以外は全て食べられます（赤い実はサンザシ）。

Apart from Santa and the plastic holly next to him, everything else on the plate is edible (the red berries are hawthorn berries).

ミカンなど Tangerines etc

 柚子は今年４個だけ生りました（1個は料理に利用済み）。樹高はまだ1m未満で、去年の初成り３個よりは進歩です。冬の間、柑橘類の実を眺めながら暮らすのが好きですが、柚子は12月一杯で終わりになるので収穫することにしました。

ブラッドオレンジのモロに高接ぎしたミカンの田口早生。今年の夏はそんなに雨が降った印象はないのですが、巨大果ばかり。よって、味は薄そう。

1個だけ試し採り。時期的にはもう全て採って良いのですが、眺めていたい。

和犬と柚子＆ミカン。写真右に写り込んでいるのは星タンゴール。10号菊鉢でも枝が折れそうになるほど実を着けます。

ミカンの重量を計ったら346gでした。味は、.... 薄め。

It weighs 346g: the larger the fruit, the milder the taste.

公園で At the park

 久しぶりにドッグランに入ってみました。天気が良い割にはガラガラ。

We went into the dog park - not many users for a Saturday morning.

タイガが入って来るのをじっと見ていた子。以前、何度もドグランで一緒に遊んだことのある、一卵性双生児のようにそっくりな２頭のうちのひとりかと思いましたが、タイガが素っ気ない反応なので拍子抜け。

A familiar looking individual approached Taiga.

せっかく遊びたそうに近づいて来てくれるのに、タイガは素通りです。

But Taiga showed no interest -  didn't she used to play with him?

何とも可愛い顔。

飼い主さんのお話を聞いてビックリ。この子は生後11か月の女の子で名前はウメちゃん。ということは以前タイガが一緒に遊んでいた２頭とは違う３頭目のそっくりな子ということになります。ウメちゃんの飼い主さん自身、「そっくりな子がいる」という話は聞いているけど未だ会ったことはないそうです。その２頭はオスで、兄弟ではなく、別々の飼い主さんたちの元で暮らしている保護犬です。ちなみに、このウメちゃんも元保護犬。これほどそっくりだということは、もしかしたら同じ親、あるいは同じ野犬の群れ出身なのかも知れません。ワンコのDNA鑑定をすると、より詳しいことが分かるかも（米国の企業が提供するサービスです）。

To my surprise, this individual is not one of the 2 dogs who look like identical twins.  Those 2 dogs are male and mature, whereas this one is a girl, aged 11 months old.  The 2 other dogs are of different ages and live with different owners, and they were both rescued as feral puppies.  This girl was also rescued from a feral pack in Western Japan.  From all this, it may be that they have the same parent, or they come from the same feral pack.

今日は沢山の子らに臭い嗅ぎされました。ボストンテリアの男の子。かなりズンズンきたのでタイガはイヤそうなボディーランゲージを発しています。

Lots of others came to take a sniff at Taiga.

ボストンを振り切ったあと、なぜか恨めしそうな視線を私に向けている。

今度は柴犬の女の子が近づいてきました。

柴犬の飼い主さんたちにタイガが挨拶している間、嗅ぎ放題です。

Although the Shiba seems much younger than 

Taiga, she takes full advantage of the situation.

クルリと向きを変えて目ヂカラにものを言わせます。

Finally, Taiga turns around and gives a good stare down.

ボーダーが飼い主さんの投げてくれるおもちゃを凝視しています。その手前のワイヤーテリアも同じおもちゃを狙っています。

A Border Collie eagerly awaits his owner to throw a toy.  The Wire Terrier also wants to get it.

ボーダーの飼い主さんがモゾモゾと手間どっているので、オヤツと勘違いしたタイガが寄ってきました。今日はタイガの知っている子がいなかったので全然走る気はなさそうなので、早々にランを出ました。

As the owner took time to get the toy out of her bag, Taiga came rushing, thinking it was a treat.

帰りしな、公園出口の草地。最近毎朝この光景です。熟した柿を食べに野鳥がやって来るのを期待して大勢のオジサンたちが集まり、高価そうなカメラを三脚に設置して待っています。私が野鳥だったら近隣の民家の柿の木へ行きますが。

On our way home, we crossed the field where a persimmon tree still had lots of ripe fruits.  Every morning, bird watchers set up tripods with huge cameras, hoping to capture shots of birds feasting on the persimmon fruits.
