フラワーブレッドのちぎりパン Pull-apart Flower Bread

 ひき肉の入ったちぎりパンを作りました。ひき肉のつなぎにおろしチーズを使い、また、彩りを添えるためのホウレンソウの葉っぱの中にはモッツァレラチーズが入っていて、仕上げにパルメザンチーズをまぶしてあります。パンが焼けるとこれらのチーズが溶けるので、とても美味しいです。

I made a colourful pull-apart flower bread with minced meat inside.  3 kinds of cheese are used: grated cheese as a binder for the minced meat, mozzarella wrapped with spinach leaves, and parmesan cheese as garnish

公園で At the park

 最近急激に涼しくなってきたので、ワンコにとって嬉しい状況。酷暑の間は用足しが済むと180度向きを変えて家に帰ろうとしていましたが、最近は延々と歩かされます。今朝は柿の木広場のあと、向いの茂呂山公園にも上がりました。

The weather has gone quite cool recently and Taiga's morning and evening walks are getting longer.  

上の広場はモミジが青々していて涼し気。タイガにポーズを取らせようとしたら、土をホジホジして協力する気はないようです。

We went up the Moroyama Park this morning.  I wanted to take a picture of the Japanese maple trees and Taiga.  Instead of posing for the camera, she started digging the ground.

諦めて呼びつけたら、勝手に座り込んでオヤツポーズ。

When I called her, she rushed towards me and sat down as if to expect a treat - she is very good at manipulating me.

その後はゆっくり下のほうの道を通って帰りました。

We walked through the park enjoying the cool air and the smell of the soil and plants after the rain.

途中の斜面には、夏の終わりによく見る薄紫色のランのような花が咲いていました。

ジミだけど近寄ってみると結構可愛い花です。

雨の影響 After the rains

 今日の早朝散歩のときもまだ傘を持って出かけるほど、ここ数日は雨続きでした。私は雨の後の庭仕事やベランダの掃除などが貯まっているので、タイガを家の中に閉じ込めておきました。蚊がいる季節は散歩以外、外に出しません。なので、恨めしそうな顔。

I had a lot of work outside of the house after several days of rain.  Since there are still a lot of mosquitoes outside, I told Taiga to stay inside.  Her eyes are filled with boredom.

この花、英語での俗称が「レインリリー」というだけあって、雨が降った直後に咲きます。5-6月のピーク時には大変目を楽しませてくれました。

モロに高接ぎしてあるミカンの田口早生に裂果が発生しています。果皮の薄い品種なので仕方ないです。

こちらは10号鉢の種無しスダチ。裂果の状況は深刻です。これも果皮が薄い果実。薄い果皮に種が無いので、料理に使うには非常に優秀です。

これ↓は片手に乗る分だけで、割れたものの一部です。なぜか、タロッコに接いである種無しスダチには全く裂果がありません。

2階ベランダの掃除をしようと中に入ると、タイガがまだ退屈していました。階段で私の通り道を塞ぐのは危険なので止めて欲しいです。

After tidying up the plants in the garden, I proceeded to go upstairs to clean up the balcony.  Taiga was blocking my way, still looking bored.

バナナ・スポンジケーキ Banana Sponge Cake

 バナナケーキは黒ずんだ生地になりがちですが、ひと工夫することで普通のスポンジケーキと同じような色に仕上がります。黒い斑点が入った生地のケーキは、それはそれなりに素朴で美味しいのですが、このレシピで作ったものは上品な口当たりになります。

Banana cakes tend to become green/grey with dark spots when baked.  The rustic looking cake is nice in its own way, but you can avoid discolouring of the sponge by using juice of citrus fruits.

 雨水を吸って幼果が肥大しています。これ↓はモロに高接ぎしてある田口早生。鉢植えだった頃とは比較にならない大実が毎年収穫できます。

地植えの新疆棗王にスーパージャイアントの枝を全部で４か所接ぎましたが、最後に動き出したのが開花しています。

I grafted 4 scions of 'Super Giant' jujube onto 'Xinjian Jujube' in July, and this is the last of the 4, at last flowering.

これは本体の新疆棗王で、どの幼果も在来のナツメの完熟果よりも大きくなっています。実の形はカタログ写真のとおり丸っこくなって来ました。たぶん「ハミ棗」で合っていると思います（「新疆棗王」というのは単に日本での流通名だと思います。）幼苗の和田ナツメのほうは今も花が咲いていますが、今年も結実なしのようです。

公園で At the park

 今朝は少しだけ暑さが和らいでいたので、公園に着くなり帰るのではなくドッグランを覗いてみようと川沿いを歩いていたら、お肉屋さん横の草地の前で甲斐犬のヒナとセナと出くわしました。久しぶりです。

It was slightly cooler this morning and, as we were having a longer walk than usual, we ran into Hina and Sena, both female Kaiken.

セナはすっかり大きくなってまだ１歳未満にも関らず、お姉ちゃんのヒナより若干大きく見えます。2頭とも同じ犬舎の出身で、ヒナの母親とセナのおばあちゃんが同一だそうです。

Hina was born earlier this year and now she seems to have slightly outgrown Hina.  They are from the same kennel and Hina's mom is Sena's grandmother.  Sena was born white but she is a full-blooded Kai nevertheless.

甲斐犬３頭並んで写真を撮りたいのですが、なかなか言うことを聞きません。

We wanted to take a picture with 3 of them sitting side-by-side, looking towards the camera.  It turned out to be impossible.

セナがお座りしないのと、皆があっちを向いたりこっちを見たりで統一性なし。

本当に、動物と子供は被写体として難しい。

もう、いいわ。

Forget it.

So we let the dogs run in the field nearby.

最近タイガのダイエットに成功、と思っていましたが、細いヒナと一緒だとタイガのダイエットは遠い道のりだと分かります。

向こうから近所のゴロウがやって来ました。タイガは伏せして狙います。

Goro, my neighbour's Labrador-Shiba mix, came into the field.  Goro is Taiga's boyfriend.

13歳のゴロウ、女の子たちに囲まれています。

帰り道、何年かぶりにビアデッドコリーのダンボに会いました。あまりに久しぶりなので、直ぐには名前が浮かばないほどで困りました。タイガが公園デビューした子犬時代に随分とお世話になったのですが、今はダンボが12歳で、タイガは8歳。あっという間でした。

On our way home, we met Dumbo, a male Bearded Collie, after a long time.  When Taiga was a puppy newly introduced to the park, Dumbo was very kind to her.  Now he is 12 years old and Taiga 8. 

ワンコたちは名前など思い出さなくても良いので、直ぐに打ち解けていました。

After so many years of not seeing him, I could not immediately recall his name but names do not matter to dogs.

Taiga cannot contain herself and starts kissing him.

Dumbo does not seem to mind.
