今朝の公園散歩で同じ地区に住むゴールデンのユメとチワワのリンタロウに会えました。朝から暖かくて、タイガと私は涼しい林の日陰をゆっくり歩いていたところです。ちょうど確かめたいことがあったので都合よかった。
We met our neighbour's Golden Retriever and Chihuahua during our morning walk. It was a warm morning and we had been wandering in the woods trying to stay cool. It was fortunate to run into them since I had something I wanted to clear with Yume's mom.
その確かめたいこととは、ユメ一家には猫がいるのかどうか、ということです。昨日の朝の散歩で住宅街を歩いていて、帰りにユメの家の横を通った際、リビングの前の中庭に猫の姿がありました。タイガに対する拒絶反応は全くなく、むしろ退屈しのぎに柵の間から無表情でワンコを眺めているという印象でした。
That is, I wanted to ask if they had a cat or not. We saw this cat as we were coming home from a walk in the neighbourhood yesterday morning. The cat was sitting in a small garden in front of their living room, but inside the wooden fence. The fence reaches the roof and it would be impossible for a stray cat to get in.
This cat showed no aggression when Taiga approached her - she simply looked bored, if not lethargic.
ユメママによると、嫁いでいる娘さんに最近3人目の子供が生まれて猫の世話が大変になったので引き取ったそうです。それまではマンション暮らしで、外の空気を知らずに育ったそうですが、今は家の中と中庭を自由に行き来できるようにしてあるので、こうやって道行く人やワンコを眺めているようです。この子は6歳のラグドールで、青い目とモフモフのコートがいかにも洋猫の雰囲気です。
According to Yume's mom, her married daughter had a third child recently and it was getting too much for her to look after the cat. Moreover, the other two children, who are still very young, kept handling the cat like a toy making it very difficult for the cat to coexist with the kids. Until the cat came to this new place, she had never set foot outside of the apartment of her previous owner. Now, she is free to move between inside the house and this tiny garden. Moreover, she rules over the two dogs. Her life must have improved a lot. She is a beautiful Ragdoll.
When we came out of the woods to go home, we met Bunta, an English Bulldog. In spite of his face, he is an affectionate individual.
遅れて弟の大吉も到着。イングリッシュブルテリアです。ブン太同様、とても優しい性格で懐こい。ブルテリアは目が小さくてしょぼしょぼしている外観がチャームポイントです。
Bunta's brother, Daikichi, an English Bull Terrier, caught up. He is just as friendly as Bunta and, with his tiny eyes, he looks comical and a lot more approachable to a stranger.
