キンカンライム Limequat
先日の雪でキンカンライムの実がダメージを受けたようです。白っぽくなって、指で触ると一部、軟化しているものがあります。
The snowfall the other day seems to have damaged the limequat fruits - some of them have white spots on the skin.
I picked a few of them to see if they are ready for use.
キンカンライムは決して生食には向かないのですが、試しに糖度計を当ててみたら、中心部分で15.5度ありました。高級ミカン顔負けの数値です。でも実際に食べてみると、いつもの超スッパでした。
Limequats are not meant to be eaten like a dessert citrus, but I checked the sugar content which turned out to be 15.5%, higher than the tangerines in supermarkets. However, when I ate one of the halves, it was ultra-sour which was only to be expected.

お洋服 Dog vest
夕方、テレビの前で爆睡していたら門の🔔が鳴りました。もうろうとした中で出てみたら、何と、フラットコーテッドレトリーバーのジュディのママが、「近くの店で適当なベストをジュディに買ったついでにもう一枚、タイガにも買った」ということで、持ってきてくださいました。
雨の日以外、何も着たことが無いタイガに早速着せてみました。かなり逃げ回りましたが、首の下と腹部がマジックテープで繋がるだけなので、あっという間に装着。この生地は、夜の散歩で車のライトが当たると光るそうです。これまで明りが点滅する首輪に頼っていましたが、このベストがあれば体の大部分が光るので遥かに安全です。有難うございました!!!
When I was stone dead (asleep) in front of the TV in the evening, ahead of Taiga's nightly walk, the bell rang. I opened the front door to find that Judy (Flat Coated Retriever)'s mom was standing there with something hanging from her hand. It was a dog vest that shines at night when it receives car light. As she knew about Taiga's walk after dark, and she happened to see this in a neighbourhood store, she got me one.

マジックテープのおかげで、何とか贅肉がはみ出さずにさまになっています。（タイガは、囚われの身のように困惑した顔。）
The vest was just the right size(!) thanks to the magic tapes under the neck and stomach.

公園で At the park
今日も良い天気。公園に着くともう日本水仙が咲いていました。
Another beautiful day in Tokyo, although cold.
Japanese daffodils already in bloom - they are tiny flowers but have a very sweet perfume.
真っ青な空を背景に白い樹肌の大木。カナダのメープルツリーに似た葉っぱの木です。
A huge tree with brilliant white bark, against the background of blue sky. The tree has leaves looking like the Canadian maple tree during spring to autumn.
ドッグラン近くの林で初めて見るボルゾイの子に会えました。随分前に出会ったボルゾイの「ダニロフ」君の娘だそうで「ダニ子」。でも、正式な名前は「アリエッタ」という可愛い名前です。
Just before the dog park, we met a new face - a female Borzoi. She is a daughter of a male Borzoi I met a long time ago. He was waiting in the car while his daughter was having a walk.
ダニロフ君も元気だそうですが、１頭ずつの散歩だそうです。
ランは大賑わいで、入口の囲いのドアの前までハスキーとフレブルが迎えに来てくれました。が、タイガはハスキーが少し苦手なので、出口のドアにへばりついて「帰ろうよ」と目で訴えていました。
The dog park had a busy morning with lots of dogs enjoying themselves. When we entered the holding pen, a male Husky and a French Bulldog came to greet us. Taiga is not too keen on Huskies and wanted to go home - I wasn't taking it.
ゲートで出迎えてくれた子と一緒に来ていた、ハスキーの女の子。外見はワイルドですが大人しい性格で、私に背中を向けて座り込みカキカキを要求してきました。
The male Husky's sister came to meet me and sat down with her back towards me, expecting to get a good rub.
フレブルはどの子も独特の味のある顔と性格です。
The Frenchie also coming to greet me.
今日はフレブル祭り状態でした。
In fact, the dog park was full of French Bulldogs this morning.
ラブラドゥードルの子が特定のスポットの上でスリスリ。
A Labradoodle stated to rub his neck on a spot.
飼い主さんがひっぱって放そうとしても、また戻って同じことを繰り返します。何やらよほど良い臭いがついているようです。
His mom tried to stop it since the sand was moist and not clean. However, he was obsessed with the spot - some intriguing smell there?
他の子たちもマネして臭い嗅ぎを始めました。
Some of the others started sniffing the same area - they were all boys.
さっきのゲートのハスキーと、巨大なレオンベルガー。いつもの2頭一緒のワンコとは別の子で、圧倒されるほど大きいです。これでも１歳８か月で、体重は53kgだそうです。3歳台になるとどこまで育っているのか楽しみです。
The male Husky we saw earlier, and a huge Leonberger. The Leonberger is 1 year and 8 months old and already weighs 53kg.
ハスキーの男の子は十分大きいのに、レオンベルガーと並ぶとサイズの違いが分かります。
レオンベルガーはまだ子供なので、自分の大きさが分かっていないような遊び方。
The Leonberger seems unaware of his own size and acts like a little puppy.
喧噪に巻き込まれたくない２頭。タイガと小柄のホワイトレトリーバーの女の子。
Two individuals who want nothing to do with all the fun around them - Taiga and a female White Retriever.
ホワイトレトリーバーの飼い主さんが赤虎の甲斐犬を珍しがって、並んだところを写真に撮りたかったのですが、ワンコはいうことを聞いてくれない。
The White Retriever's mom wanted to take a perfect photo of them together, but they were not obliging - they both hate the camera.
なぜかワンコたちに大変人気で、その子を中心にレースが始まりました。
ホワイトシェパードが到着したので、ワンコたちがゾロゾロ集まってきました。人間にとっても目をひかれずにはいられない真っ白な美しい子です。
A White Shepherd has arrived and dogs gathered around him. Humans also were rivetted to his stunning appearance.
For some reason, he was very popular with other dogs and they wanted to run with him.
新入りのホワイトシェパードが狩られているのではなく、皆が本当に楽しそうに走り回っている状態です。
He was not being hunted and the dogs all seemed genuinely happy to run with him. It was a beautiful sight.

デニッシュペイストリー Danish Pastries
デニッシュペイストリーは好物ですが、作るのに時間がかかるので滅多に作りません。でも、暑い季節には生地のバターが溶けだすので今のような季節のうちに作っておこうと思いました。
Danish pastries are my favourite but it takes a long time to make. However, cold seasons are just the right time since the dough can be handled easily.

公園で At the park
今日は朝から快晴で、公園に着くとところどころにしか雪が残っていませんでした。それでも雪が大好きなタイガはあちこちで顔を突っ込んでいました。
A fine day with bright blue sky. When we arrived at the park, most of the snow had melted. Still, with what was left, Taiga entertained herself by sticking her face into the snow from time to time.
Taiga is an old-fashioned Japanese dog and is not interested in Western toys. Instead, she gets excited when she finds natural materials such as sticks or fallen branches. Likewise, she loves snow.
家に帰る前に日光で温まったレンガの上で足を乾かしてから、と思いオヤツタイム。
We rested so that her feet would get dry on the warm bricks in the sun.
タイガは一旦家の中に入ると、ネコのようにホットカーペットのぬくもりが大好きです。リビングのこのスポットは、遠くの野鳥を眺めたりブロック塀の上を通り過ぎるネコを見てエキサイトする場所です。どんなに興奮しても外に飛び出さないので感心です（かーちゃんが怖いから？）。

As much as Taiga loves snow, once she gets into the house, she becomes glued to the warm electric carpet. Here, in the living room, she is warm and can watch wild birds in the distance as well as my neighbour's cat walking past on the fence. She never jumps out of the room to chase the wild life.
生クリーム入り角食パン Creamy Pullman Loaf
バターではなく生クリーム入りの食パンです。焼きあがるにつれ、クリーム入りパン独特の香りが台所に広がります。食味はとても高級感があります。
Square white bread with heavy cream instead of butter. The flavour is very smooth and rich.

雪！ Snow in Tokyo
お昼近くから雪がちらつき始めたのですが、雲が明るかったのですぐに止むのかと思っていました。念のため食品を買い出しにスーパーをハシゴして、２日間はもちそうです。タイガは家の中がよほど退屈なのか、私が買い物で外出中は外にいたがります。
I noticed light snowflakes towards midday, never thinking that it was going to last. Nevertheless, I went around a few supermarkets so that we would have enough foodstuff for the next 2 days. While I am out, Taiga insists on waiting for me outside.

午後4時過ぎにはすっかり果樹の上に積もっています。

Walking out of our porch after 7 in the evening for Taiga's walk. So cold!
四中横の草地に着くと、もう雪だるまが作られていました。
When we arrived at the park, we found a snow man.
ワンコの臭いがついているのか、タイガがしきりにクンクン。草地には既にビーグルのリクちゃんと近所のゴロウが到着していました。沢山走り回って珍しい雪を堪能したようです。
Some dogs must have left calling cards and Taiga could not pull herself away. Luckily, there were two of Taiga's friends in the park already, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the snow.
帰宅途中に通りがかった公園では明りが十分ついていたので、私のコンデジでもなんとか１枚撮れました。これもカラー写真です。
公園の木々がまるで桜の花が咲いたように綺麗でしたが、私のコンデジではまったく写っていませんでした。ビーグルのリクちゃんの飼い主さんが何と、iPhone 13 を持っていたので試しにコナラの木を撮ってもらったら、やっぱり違う！ 何ともドラマチックな写り。空の雲までちゃんと撮れています。この時間には、空はもうすっかり青空で細かい雲が散在しているだけでした。ちなみに、これはカラー写真です。雪のせいでモノクロの世界に見えますが。
A dramatic picture of a tree, taken with iPhone 13 by one of the poochs' moms. She kindly sent me the photo via LINE on the spot. Note that this is a colour photo, with the blue sky at night and scattered white clouds. What a picture! The tree looks like a cherry tree in full bloom.
On our way home, I managed to take a photo of trees of a small park since there was just about enough light. This is also a colour photo.
