家の前で In front of my house

 家の前で初めて会った黒柴の女の子。せとかちゃんで、１歳になったばかりだそうです。非常なビビリで、タイガと遊びたいけど、でもやっぱりコワイ、の繰り返しをしていたところへ、ドーベルマンのリアちゃんが通りかかりました。怖いもの知らずの仔犬のリアちゃんに勢いよく近づかれて「見たくない」状態のせとかちゃん。

I met this Black Shiba Inu, Setoka, a new face, in front of my house.  She has just become 1 year old and very timid.  She wanted to play with Taiga but too afraid, so she repeatedly approached Taiga and then withdrew.  Then, Leah, the Doberman Pincher puppy I met earlier this month came along.  She being a fearless puppy, Leah's approach was too eager, which put Setoka off completely.

リアちゃんの気を落ち着かせようとしましたが効果なく、

I tried to calm Leah down without any success.

せとかちゃんは行ってしまいました。リアちゃんは名残惜しそうですが、もう少し成長して落ち着けば年齢も近いので友達になれるでしょう。

Setoka left us in a hurry, leaving Leah looking at her longingly.

リアちゃんの関心はタイガの臭い嗅ぎに。

Leah then redirected her interest towards Taiga('s rear end).

ズカズカと遠慮なく。

No social grace.

タイガは嫌そうですが叱りません。

Taiga is not pleased but she does not tell her off.

他の年上ワンコにこれをすると躾けられるかも。

If Leah does this to other older dogs, she might learn a lesson.

リアちゃんは本当に落ち着きがない。まともな写真は諦めました。

She is so restless that I could not get one decent shot.

今年の始めに見つけた八百屋さんへ行く途中に、菊好きの人の家があり知り合いになりました。食用菊の話になり、ちょうど畑から収穫してきた菊の枝を数本いただきました。株分け用に根っこを取って来ると言われましたが、あえて枝の挿し木に挑戦することにしました。

My acquaintance gave me branches of edible chrysanthemums that he had just brought back from his vegetable plot.  

何とも美しい花です。

Such a beautiful variety.  

これで活着すれば嬉しいですが、この時期に上手く行くかどうか。

I made a cutting to see if I could grow a plant - not an ideal time of the year but I will do my best to look after this one.

公園で At the park

 雨が今朝までよく降りました。大幅に寝坊したので、公園に着いた頃には青空がのぞき始めていました。

The rain has at last stopped this morning and, by the time we reached the park, we saw blue sky spreading.

公園入口広場のナナカマドに似た木。名札が立っていたので確認したら、「ハゼの木」だそうです。ハゼというと私はあの酸っぱい実が生るナツハゼしか知らなかったので驚き。調べてみたら、ナツハゼというのは、夏にハゼの木のような紅葉が見られるのでそう呼ばれているだけのようです。

The rowan tree lookalike (Rhus succedanea) is becoming more beautiful.  Today being a national holiday, there were lots of families having  picnic lunches.

で、本物のハゼの木の紅葉は、ナナカマドに劣らぬ鮮やかな朱色です。

Its common name is Japanese wax tree.

広場横の林を歩きました。

We walked through the woods next to the field.

地面が落ち葉で覆われています。雨のあとなので秋の匂いがします。

As we walked, I could smell the fallen leaves after the heavy rain.

イチョウの木の下は明りがさしたよう。

The ground underneath the ginkgo trees looks as if lit by spot lights.

私が感傷的になっていると、イチョウの葉のカーペットの上でオヤツを待つタイガ。

As I was indulging myself in sentimental feelings, Taiga was anxious for a treat.

オヤツタイムも終わったし、帰ろうとして四中横の草地を出ようとしたら、タイガが「俺は帰らない」モードになりました。こういうとき、私と視線を合わせんません。

Having had a long walk in the park, I wanted to go home but Taiga wasn't having it.

運よく知っている子が通りかかりました。ミニ柴のサクラちゃん、タイガと同じ８歳。もう数年ぶりの再会です。今は工事中の元草地で毎晩遊んでいた頃はサクラちゃんはタイガのことが平気でしたが、久しぶりのせいか避けていました。

Fortunately, someone we knew passed - a female Shiba Inu, Sakura, aged the same as Taiga, 8 years old.  We have not seen her for some years and she was shy.

タイガが積極的に近づこうとすると、

As Taiga tried to get closer to her,

飼い主さんの後に避難してしまいました。

Sakura hid herself behind her mom.

うちの近所の集合住宅の垣根は、サザンカが咲き始めています。このあたりで最も良く見られる品種で、公園への川沿いの道端のと同じ。

公園で At the park

 天気予報では日曜の夜から月曜日にかけて雨のようなので、晴れているうちに黄葉を楽しもうと城北公園へ出かけました。今日はいつもと反対側のドッグラン近くの林から入りましたが、その林手前の橋からの景色。

According to the weather forecast, it will start raining tomorrow night through to Monday.  So, we went out to Johoku Park to enjoy the good weather and autumn trees while things lasted.

橋の上で記念写真。秋にはほぼ毎年ここで撮っています。

林を歩く前にタイガが一息。

林横の広場のケヤキにはまだ葉っぱが残っています。

林の中は涼しくて、ベンチで読書する人たちもいました。

ドッグラン横の林では、サザンカの木が満開です。空気が乾燥しているなか、ランでワンコたちが走り回るたびに砂煙が立ち上がっていたので、今日は素通りしました。

帰りは古代家のある林を通りました。とても爽快な散歩が楽しめました。

We walked through the familiar part of the park on our way home.

公園で At the park

 公園の川辺の草地に着いたら、近所の紀州犬のウメちゃんがいました。タイガを見て嬉しそうですが、なぜか背中の毛が立っている。

When we arrived at the field which is part of the Johoku Park, we saw Ume, my neighbour's female Kishu Ken.  Seeing Taiga, Ume got all excited.

ズカズカとタイガの臭い嗅ぎ。タイガの耳が倒れて「何っ！」という心境のようです。

Ume was not raised in a dog community - Taiga caught unawares.

”Manners!”

タイガはウメママにカキカキしてもらって顔がデレデレです。甲斐犬と紀州犬の外見の違いは大きいですね。ウメちゃん、なんだか「日本昔話」にでてきそうな雰囲気。美しい女人に姿を変えそう。

その後、川を越えて中央公園の入り口の草地へ。ナナカマドのような木の紅葉が始まっています。

We crossed the bridge to reach the Centre.  The rowan tree starting to turn red.

そのすぐ近くのベンチで休んでいた人がタイガの注意を引いて話かけました。

その人の家では現在14歳になるトイプードルがいるそうです。タイガはオヤツをもらってご機嫌。

He tells me that he has a 14-year old Toy Poodle at home, who does not like walking any more.  Taiga is only happy to get a treat from him.

涼しい林の中を通って、丘の向こうの公園正門を目指します。正門からの道は今イチョウの木の黄葉が綺麗だと教えてもらいました。

We passed through the woods to go over the hill to the Main Entrance of the park where ginkgo trees were turning golden.

林から上がってきて、陸上競技場の横を通り、公園管理事務所の前を通ります。

事務所前の広場では数頭の仲良しワンコたちが大騒ぎで遊んでいました。ビーグル４頭の他は、真っ黒い子で甲斐犬とラブのミックス犬だそうです。

Just before reaching the Main Entrance, there were several dogs having a lot of fun - 4 Beagles and a black dog.

黒いワンコに絡まれて大柄のビーグルが地面にゴロリ。

その子が起き上がったと思ったら、

今度は黒いワンコがゴロゴロし始めました。

タイガはぼーぜんとして見ています。

様子からして、毎日一緒に散歩している仲間のようです。

Listening to the owners, it was obvious that they were great friends and were in a habit of taking walks together every day.

この子の洋服はタータンチェックのスカート付きです。

穏やかな秋晴れで本当に気持ち良い散歩です。

With the dry, warm air, it was such a beautiful morning to take a walk in the park.

We then walked through the woods next to the Main Entrance, where the Japanese zelkova trees has almost lost all the leaves.

帰り道、うちの手前にある区民農園も秋の支度ができているようです。

The vegetable plots near my home, looking ready for the coming winter.  The plots have a long waiting list of applicants, I am told.

毎日通るたびに足を止めて食い入るように見ている菊。

The area I look at every day when I pass - the deep pink chrysanthemums.

この濃いピンクの小菊があまりにも綺麗で。複数の区画で咲いているので、早い時期から他の人たちに株分けしたのかも。本当に綺麗です。

I find these reddish pink flowers so attractive that my eyes are rivetted.
