公園で At the park

 公園へ向かう歩道で、久しぶりに柴犬のキトに会えました。ゴマタイプのコートです。

On our way to the park, we met Kito, a goma coat Shiba Inu.

タイガと同様、コロコロしていますが

それがはじけるような可愛さのあるキトです。

Kito is as plump as Taiga, but that goes well with her lively character - she is a happy individual.

公園に着くと入口の草地で懐かしい面々に会えました。タイガが公園デビューした頃に育ててくれた朝散歩の群れです。

When we arrived at the park, we saw a group of familiar faces.  They belong to the pack that meet every morning - the meet was at such early hours that I dropped out eventually.  However, the pack practically raised Taiga teaching her manners.

タイガがむっちりしているので、「タイガの背中でコーヒーが飲めるね」と言われてしまいました（テーブルのように平たい背中という意味でした）。調子に乗ったもう一人の人には「タイガはベンチにもなるね」とまで言われました。私は反論できないほど、タイガの腰のあたりは真っ平らです。

この子↓は群れのボス、ジュディー。みんなタイガが生後２，３か月の頃からの知り合いなので、タイガも含め年をとった（飼い主たちも）のを実感しました。

This is Judy, the boss of the pack and Taiga continues to adore her.

その後、上の方の林へ移動して、今朝もサラダバーを堪能です。

We moved to the upper part of the park, where Taiga enjoyed the salad bar.

帰りしなに通った林で超ミニ柴のスズちゃんに会えました。もう１年以上も会っていませんが、今工事中の草地でスズちゃんがデビューした頃からの知り合いなので飛んできます。極小サイズなのに皆と一緒に堂々と駆けまわっていたので、私はいつも怪我させないかヒヤヒヤしながら見守っていました。

言葉にならないほど可愛い子です。

An old friend - an extra tiny Shiba Inu, named Suzu.  She comes from a famous breeder in Shizuoka Prefecture, specialising in miniature Shibas.

She is sooooo sweet - it's unreal - and she knows how I am besotted with her.

As the saying goes in Japanese, it wouldn't hurt a bit if she got into my eye.

Greeting Taiga was the last item on her priority list.

公園で At the park

　ドッグランに到着すると、ドーベルマンのビャクヤ（白夜）君が帰るところでした。

When we arrived at the dog park, Byakuya, a male Doberman was just leaving.

後ろから名前を呼ぶと面倒くさそうに振り向きました。よほど遊び疲れたのでしょうか。

When I called his name, he turned around looking rather tired - he must have had a good time.

ラン入り口の囲いエリアに入ると、甲斐犬のヒナが迎えに来てくれました。

As we entered the pen area of the dog park, Hina, a female Kaiken, came to greet Taiga.

何週間ぶりかの再会です。

They have not seen each other for weeks.

タイガの赤虎とヒナの黒虎のコートは対照的です。

Hina is a black brindle Kai, whereas Taiga is a red brindle.

ヒナの妹のセナが近づいてきました。私はランにはいったなり、あたりを見渡してセナを探しましたが、子犬が目に入りませんでした。ママにセナを指さされて初めて分かりましたが、とても生後５か月の仔犬とは思えない雰囲気でした。前回会ったときは生後４か月で子犬らしくヨタヨタした動きだったし、ベビーファットがついていてプヨプヨした体形だったような記憶があります。それが、近づいてきたセナはもう贅肉ゼロで動きもキビキビしていて、１歳くらいの子に見えました。ママによると、家でヒナに鍛えられて早く成長したのだろうということでした。

Hina's new sister, Sena, came to greet Taiga.  Sena is a full-blood Kai, but born with a pale coat.  She is still 5 months old but already she moves about like a grown up - she is growing up fast under Hina.

セナはちゃっかりタイガの臭い嗅ぎまでします。もう犬社会で一丁前のメンバーになった気分のようです。

She even has the temerity to take a sniff at Taiga.

臆するところなく、また、子犬なのに媚びることもしません。

She is fearless, and she does not try to play sweet in front of anyone.

尻尾の倒れ方が、うちの近所の紀州犬のウメちゃんそっくりです。

これからどんな大人になるのか楽しみです。

初めて見る中型犬の男の子がいました。保護された子で、名前はアーサー。

A new face: rescued dog named Arthur.

まだ他所のワンコとの遊びは苦手のようです。でもタイガはこの大きさの男の子が大好きなので近づいて行きます。

Arthur is not used to playing with other dogs, but Taiga has taken a liking to him.

タイガにとっては遊びですが、いきなり誘われて逃げ惑うアーサー。

Taiga is more than willing to play with Arthur, but he is not used to it.

He is a little scared of Taiga's eagerness, it seems.

でも、スキを見てしっかりタイガの臭い嗅ぎはしました。

Nevertheless, he took the opportunity to sniff.

タイガは「何だよ」という顔に対して、「テヘッ」といった顔のアーサー。

Taiga gives him a look, but Arthur is smiling.

いったんは離れたものの、タイガはまた遊びに誘おうとします。

Taiga wants to play with Arthur again, 

でもまだドッグランに慣れていないアーサーはタイガに気付いていない振りでした。

but he pretends that he is unaware of it.

初めて見るボクサーの子。チカちゃん、１歳。ベンチに座っている飼い主さんにリードを持たれて退屈そうにしていましたが、

Another new face: 1-year old female Boxer, named Chika.  She is bored since her mom keeps sitting on the bench with the leash in her hand.

パグのダイズちゃんが「遊んで」と近づいてきました。ダイズちゃんの家にはもう一頭、黒いパグがいて、名前はアズキちゃんだそうです。分かりやすい。

A female Pug approaches Chika, wanting to play with her.

ふたりともまだ子犬で顔も似ています。気が合うらしく、延々とふたりでウネウネしていました。

They both have a sweet temper and it was a welcome distraction for Chika.

ドッグランデビューしたばかりの初めて見る黒ラブの子が来ました。名前はノア、女の子で生後６か月だそうです。まだまだ他所のおとなが怖いらしく、ヒナが近づいたとたんに尻尾が脚の間に入ってしまいました。

Another new face: 6-month old female black Labrador, named Noah.  Being a newcomer, she is scared of grown up dogs.  Her tail disappeared when Hina came near her.

人間に対しては人見知りしないようで、私の前に近づいて来たときは尻尾が外に出ていました。

But she is not afraid of humans so the tail came out when she approached me.

近くの木の根元で他のワンコのオシッコの臭い嗅ぎをするときも尻尾が外に出ていましたが、

Her tail remained normal when she took a niff at a tree, 

おとなのフレブルが近づいてきたとたん、またしても尻尾が脚の間に入ってしまいます。

but it went right in between her legs the moment a grown up came near her.

帰ろうとしてランの外に出ると、極小のヨーキーが通りかかりました。まだ生後８か月の子犬で、名前はムギちゃん、体重1.8キロしかないそうです。自分から積極的にタイガに近づいてきます。

When we came out of the dog park, we met a tiny Yorkie passing by.  She is 8-month old, and weighs only 1.8kg.

タイガがお子ちゃまには興味ないので素っ気なく離れて行きましたが、成犬の子が来るとまた自分から近づいて行きます。

She does not show any fear of other dogs but she is very, very humble.

しかも低姿勢で、

She lowers herself to the ground,

自分からオシリを向けて臭い嗅ぎをしてもらっています。

and even offers her rear end to be sniffed at.  I have never seen such a thing.

そこへフレブルの成犬もやって来ました。またしても自分から近づいて行って

But she does it all over again when another dog approaches.

這いつくばるように地面に伏せてから、

やはりオシリを差し出します。こんなに低姿勢のしかも子犬は見た事ありません。

So strange...

上のほうの売店がある広場へ上って一休み。

Before heading home, we had a rest in the shade under a big tree.

待望のオヤツをムシャムシャしながら満足そうな顔です。

Taiga looks happy munching a treat.
