公園で At the park

 ヤマト横の草地に着くと、近所の紀州犬、ウメちゃんがいました。久しぶりです。

When we arrived at the park, we met Ume, my neighbour's female Kishu.  Even though we live only about 20 meters apart, it has been some time since we last met.

タイガはウメちゃんママに挨拶。

Taiga greets Ume's mom.

ウメちゃんがタイガにキス。

急に遊びモードになりましたが、

Suddenly, Ume invites Taiga to play.

タイガにその気がないようです。

Taiga is not in the mood.

橋を渡って公園の中央へ移動。

We crossed the bridge to move to the centre of the park.

入口広場。

ハゼの木が紅葉し始めています。

Some trees are turning into autumn colours.

林へ移動しようとしたら、柴犬のキリュウ（輝龍）が登場。なぜか興奮して近づきながら頭を振っています。

As we were heading towards the woods for cooler air, suddenly, Kishu appeared.  

キリュウはまだ若者。怖いもの知らずでタイガのことも同等とみなします。

Kiryu is a fearless young boy and treats Taiga like his equal.

自分からタイガを遊びに誘って挑発。

He invites Taiga to play.

ウメちゃんがキリュウに視線をロックオン。

Ume locks her eyes on Kiryu.

ウメちゃんの大きさに慎重になったのか、

Kiryu seems to realise Ume's size.

またタイガを挑発し始めました。

So, he goes back to Taiga.

突然タイガが地面をホジホジ。これは、相手の体力が勝っていて自分が劣勢になるとタイガが用いる手段で、「遊びはお終い！」という意味です。

Suddenly, Taiga starts digging.  This is her sign saying 'I've had enough', when she feels that her opponent is too much for her.

キリュウと別れたあと、林の散策。

After saying good-bye to Kiryu, we continued our walk into the woods.

林のなかはヒンヤリして心地いい。

The air was so cool and pleasant in the shade.

帰りは四中横の草地を通りましたが、木陰に着くとウメちゃんが座り込み。ワンコにとっても清々しい朝なので、まだ帰りたくないようです。

On our way home, we passed through another field, where Ume sat down in the shade.  The morning was so pleasant and Ume enjoyed the walk so much that she did not want to leave yet.

しばし休んで木陰を楽しむことにしました。ウメちゃんが嬉しそう。

So, we had a short rest and Ume looked happy.

昼食後 After Lunch

 今日も晴れて、暑くも寒くもない快適な一日でした。タイガはお昼と夕飯の一日二度の食事ですが、前日の夜に食べて以来お腹を空かせていたところへお昼ご飯を食べると一辺に眠くなるようです。網戸を通して乾いた暖かい空気が入ってくるなか、満足そうです。

Taiga eats twice a day - at midday and night.  As she is starving by lunch time, once she has had her fill, she relaxes and gets sleepy.  The weather was fine today again, not too warm nor too cool, and very peaceful.  Taiga enjoyed the fresh air coming through the screen door.

ご飯あとの身づくろい？

野鳥がお隣の裏庭に降りて来たので、精神集中。

Birds landing on the ground nearby and Taiga gets distracted.

でもだんだん睡魔が襲ってくる。

Getting drowsy and the presence of birds does not matter any more.

こうなると名前を呼んでも目を開けられない。

She hardly responds to me when I call her name.

タイガの爆睡顔を見ているうちに、私も眠ってしまいました。

Watching her fast asleep, I got sleepy, too.

朝散歩でムベとオリーブ発見 Morning Walk

 タイガが７歳になった２年前から、散歩の方角は朝も夕方もタイガまかせです。今朝は公園ではなく住宅街の散歩を選ぴました。開進第三中学の横の道で、黒柴のせとかちゃんに会いました。いつもは我が家の前の道で出くわすので、この方角での再会は珍しいです。

Taiga chose to walk through the residential area for this morning's walk, in stead of going to the park.  Since she reached 7 years old, I have been allowing her to choose the walking course.   After walking for more than 20 minutes, we met Setoka, a female black Shiba Inu.  Normally, we see her walking near my house, so this morning's meeting was a pleasant surprise.

本当はせとかちゃんは非常に可愛い子なのに、写真写りがイマイチです。

Setoka is a very pretty girl in the flesh, although she may not be photogenic.

とてもおとなしく、かつ慎重な性格なので、私には普通に近寄ってくれてもタイガに対してはちょっとビビりながら。タイガはせとかちゃんの飼い主さんに撫でられて大満足なので、せとかちゃんの挨拶は無視？表情がヘン顔なのか恍惚なのか.....

Setoka timidly approaches Taiga, but Taiga is satisfied enough to get rubs from Setoka's dad and shows little interest in her.

このあたりの丁目は不可解なところがあって、私が住んでいる桜台三丁目から歩き出して、気が付くと六丁目になります。その先を行くと五丁目になりますが、未だに四丁目がどのあたりなのか把握していません。元々、方向音痴なのでいつまでたっても頭の中がぐちゃぐちゃ。とにかく、五丁目を歩いていたら、何と、ムベが生っていました。しかも良い感じに色づいている。住宅街を歩くのは大抵夜なので、このムベの存在に気付いてもいませんでした。

When we came to an area that we normally walk at night, I saw a Mbe (Stauntonia hexaphylla) plant with fruits on it.  This plant itself is rare growing in an urban area, and to see the actual fruits is just amazing.  The fruit looks similar to Akebi but Mbe does not open its skin even when it is fully ripe.  Moreover, the fruit actually tastes delicious (so I am told), whereas there is hardly any taste in the Akebi fruit.

いままで、園芸サイトなどの写真を見るだけだったので、実物の実をこんな近くで見られるなんて感激です。

I have seen the plants in my neighbourhood, but I had never seen the fruits before.

さらに歩いて五丁目のあたり黄花コスモスがまだ咲いていました。

さらに行くと、今度はオリーブの実着きの木がありました。これはさすがに明るい時間帯の散歩でないと気づきません。よーくみると、同一業者が開発したと思われる統一性のある様式の家が数件ならんでいて、どの家にもオリーブの木が植わっていましたが、実が着いているのはこの家のだけでした。樹齢は同じでも、こんな差が出るとは。

Another new finding, thanks to walking in the daylight.  This olive tree in front of a private house had lots of fruits on it.  

Since this is a mature tree, there are lots of fruits, enough to make a bucketful of pickled olives.

再度、三丁目に戻って帰り道でみかけたルリマツリ。東京では良く育ちます。

とても綺麗な花で過去に育てたことがありますが、落ちた花がネトネトしているのでホウキで掃くとコンクリにくっついて面倒でした。
