公園で At the park

 毎日雨で気がめいりそうです。

今朝は城北中央公園ではなく、久しぶりに柿の木広場へ行ってみました。城北公園の一部なのでワンコOKです。

到着すると先に柴犬のモモちゃんが来ていました。久しぶりに見るモモちゃんの笑顔。

It has been continually raining for nearly a week.  Arriing at the park, it was a nice surprise to see Momo, female Shiba Inu, after a long time no see.

モモちゃんは子犬のときからタイガを知っているので、直ぐに遊びに誘ってきましたが、タイガはなぜかその気分ではなさそう。

Momo has known Taiga since she was a puppy (Taiga was about 4 then), and she immediately invited Taiga to play, but Taiga was not up to it.

タイガが無反応なのでクン活に切り替え。

So, Momo started sniffing.

タイガはさらにモモちゃん無視で飼い主さんに甘えだしたので、モモちゃんはタイガの服を咥えて注意を引こうと必死。

As Taiga continued to ignore Momo and started snuggling up to her mom, Momo got frustrated and pulled Taiga's shirt.

あまりの退屈さにあくび？　

Yawn....

そこへうちの近所のホワイトレトリーバーの「ほとり」ちゃんが到着。2歳の女の子でまだ遊びたいさかりなのに、連日の雨でかなり運動不足になっているそうです。

My neighbour's White Retriever arrives - named 'Hotori', 2-year old female.  Due to rain, she has not been getting enough exercise.

飼い主さんは、先代のホワイトレトリーバーのとき同様、きっちり躾をしていて、初めて会うモモちゃんを見たとたん、一旦ほとりちゃんを制止して落ち着かせてから近寄って来ました。

Hotori is a well-trained girl and she was made to stay still before she was allowed to approach us, as she and Momo were meeting for the first time.

モモちゃんは子犬の頃はタイガと同じ群で誰とでも遊べたのに、今は他所のワンコとの交流が減っているせいか、他の子とは遊べなくなったそうです。なので、初対面のほとりちゃんともまずはにらみ合ったあと、

Momo has not been socialising since she was out of her puppyhood, and she has lost her social skills with strangers.

柴犬独特の声で牽制し始めました。でも運動不足のほとりちゃんには、

As Hotori invited Momo to play, she responded with a typical Shiba Inu scream.

モモちゃんをからかって走り回るのが楽しいよう。

Nothing deterred Hotori who was too happy to be just running around.

タイガをも誘うように走り回りましたが、タイガは無反応。７歳と２歳ではエネルギーに差がありすぎ。

Hotori also invted Taiga, but she could not be bothered.

最近の雨続きで、今年が初成りの種無しスダチが裂果していました。

'Seedless Sudachi' fruiting for the first time.  This one has cracked because of rain.

雨水を含んでパンパン。

試しに半割にしてみると、まるでライムのような果肉の色。香りはいかにもスダチ。試しに片方を皮ごと食べてみたら、激すっぱ！　種が無い分、とてもジューシーですが、皮はとにかく青臭かったです。

他の裂果していない実を触ると、十分弾力性があるのでもう使えそうです。今年はまだサンマを見かけていないので、ブリの切り身などに使う予定です。

Although a tiny fruit, it is full of juice.  Sudachi is normally used for fish dishes.

ラズベリーのレアチーズケーキ Raspberry No-bake Cheese Cake

 冷凍保存してあったラズベリーでレアチーズケーキを作りました。ラズの品種はジョーン・スクワイアとルビービューティーです。作る過程はYouTubeにのせましたので、是非みてください。

I made a no-bake raspberry cheese cake, using the frozen home-grown berries, namely, Joan Squire and Ruby Beauty (aka Raspberry Short Cake).  The process is shown in the YouTube video above.

公園で At the park

 この時期に咲く公園の花、タマスダレ。これを見ると秋の到来を実感します。公園ではもうすぐヒガンバナも沢山咲くので楽しみです（うちのはもう花芽が20cmほどに伸びていますが）。

何か月ぶりかでドッグランに入ってみました。初めてみる白ラブの子が近寄ってきました。名前はジャック君、４歳だそうです。

We went into the dog park for the first time in months.

A 4-year old, male white Labrador, named Jack, came to greet us.

コロナの影響でランの利用者が少ないうえに、今日はジャック君以外の大型犬がいないのであまり遊ぶ気分ではないそうです。

Due to the virus, not many users in the dog park.

Jack was the only large dog and he could not find another to play with.

公園への道でときどき出あうスバル君、１歳２か月、がいました。元は保護された犬で警戒心が強く、いつも道ですれ違ってもタイガに対して積極的ではありませんが、今日は何と自分から近づいてきました。

Subaru, male Shiba mix, came towards us.  He was a rescued dog and extremely timid.  Every time he sees Taiga on the street, he becomes nervous.

Yet, he was completely different today - he sought out Taiga.

タイガの前でいきなりゴロンと転がって、遊びに誘っているようです。タイガはちょっとビックリ。

Subaru started rolling in front of Taiga as if to invited her to play.

困惑が続くタイガ。

Taiga looked baffled.

でもスバル君は諦めません。

Subaru persists.

起き上がって笑顔で誘ってくるので、

He gets up and continues to invite Taiga.

追いかけっこが始まりました。

So, a chase begins.

タイガが木の陰から狙っています。

コーギの飛び入り。

A Corgi jumps into the fray.

コーギとスバル君でタイガを狩り始めました。

Taiga is hunted.

皆楽しそうです。

Everybody having fun.

これまでのスバル君からは想像できないほどの積極さ。

I just do not recognise Subaru who was so timid.

タイガが疲れたので一旦ここで中止。

As Taiga was running out of energy, she put a stop to it.

スバル君が「なんでぇ」と言わんばかりに転がり始めました。

Subaru: "Why ever not?"

カメラにも気配り？

初めて見るスコットランドのテリアが到着。14歳の男の子。

An old terrier (14 years old) arrives.

年齢が年齢なので、タイガとの挨拶もゆったりと。

He takes time to say "Hello".

さっきからはちゃけているスバル君も、まるで敬意を払うようにおとなしく挨拶していました。

Even Subaru seems to pay respect to the senior dog and greets gently.

また一人になって砂の上でゴロゴロ。

When the terrier was gone, Subaru resumed his appeal to Taiga.

タイガに訴えるような目線を送るスバル君ですが、タイガのほうは白目がちです。

Taiga casts a sideway look

もう、こうなったら無理矢理　遊んでやる！

Subaru takes the matter into his hands.

７歳のタイガはエネルギー切れなのか、いまいち反応が鈍い。

Taiga at 7 years old, cannot respond the way Subaru expects.

「つまんない」と言わんばかりに、またゴロゴロ。

Subaru is disappointed.

柴犬のカリー君が到着したので起き上がりました。

He notices his friend arriving.

カリー君も１歳台なので、スバル君とちょうど良い遊び相手のようです。

Curry, male Shiba Inu, is of the same age as Subaru.

They are  well matched in energy.

カリーとスバルがはしゃいでいるところへ、到着したばかりのジャクラッセルが飛び入り。

A new arrival, female Jack Russell, jumps into the fun.

獲物になっています。

She becomes the prey.

カメラ目線でこちらへ走って来ました。

She comes running towards me, with her eyes fixed on my camera.

女の子のようで、カリーとスバルが後を追うと、

As Curry and Subaru continued to pursue her,

またしてもカメラ目線で私のほうへ走ってきました。

she came towards me, again looking at the camera.
