公園の遅咲きコブシが満開を過ぎて散り始めていました。この木は、子供の頃に山で見かけた野良のコブシにそっくりです。数週間前に咲いていた、葉っぱ無しで花だけが先に動き出すモクレンのようなのは、園芸品種として改良されたものでしょうか。

This is very much like the wild kobus trees I used to see in the mountain when I was a child, and it is entirely different from those kobus trees that were in full bloom several weeks ago. Perhaps those early blooming ones were selected and improved for gardening and parks by crossing with real magnolias - those trees produced flowers first without leaves, just like magnolias.
