公園で At the park

 今日も東京は雲ひとつない青空でした。公園の川沿いに咲いていたサザンカ。私が住んでいる地区では、公園や民家の垣根に最も良く見られる種類です。

Another beautiful day without a speck of cloud in the blue sky.  Camellia sasanqua are starting to flower.

こちらは白に淡いピンクの縁取りで、また違った綺麗さがあります。

公園入口の広場では、柿の実が色づいています（写真中央の木）。

We arrived at the field at the entrance of Johoku Park with the persimmon tree (in the middle).

まだ過熟の段階ではないので突きにくいのか、訪れる野鳥の数は少ないです。甘柿だそうですが、ゴルフボールほどのサイズなのでよほど古い品種なのでしょう。

Persimmon fruits are visited by wild birds which in turn attract amateur birdwatchers with expensive camera equipment.

柿の木の向こうに見える大木（マロニエ？）は、幹が白で紅葉が始まるとかなり目立つ存在。

陽ざしが強いので涼しい林に入りました。

As the sun was strong, we walked through the woods.

山歩きというものをしたことが無いタイガですが、落ち葉の季節は臭いを嗅ぎまわっています。

向こうに紅葉が始まったイチョウの木が輝いています。

There was a bright spot among the canopy - a ginkgo tree in autumn colour.

手前の葉がほぼなくなったケヤキの木が遮っているので

As there was an obstacle tree between the ginkgo and me, 

同じ木を向こう側から眺めると、直射日光の当たらない部分はまだ緑色の枝でした。

I walked to the other side of the tree and found that only the top part that gets the direct sunlight is golden.

階段を上って上のほうへ移動。

We went up the stairs to a small opening among trees.

犬友たちが「窪地」と呼ぶ中間地点の広場を通って、古代家のあるところへ上ります。

古代家の林。ここは黄葉が始まったばかりのようです。

Then on to the wooded area where a reconstructed ancient dwelling was.

トウカエデの木が美しい。

様々な色の木々を眺めながら乾燥した空気の中を歩くのはとても気持ちよかったです。さっきの草地に戻ると、ちょうどベンチ（オヤツ）タイムでした。

After fully enjoying the trees and dry, crisp air, we came back to the earlier field.
