公園で At the park

 今年の３月は暖かかったので、ソメイヨシノがもうすっかり散ってしまいました。公園の地面もだんだんと緑色になってきていて、今朝は５月のような爽やかな陽気でした。タイガはサラダバーに夢中。

The cherry blossoms are gone and the ground is turning green (the Asian lawn goes dry in winter).

大きな秋田犬の男の子がいました。リン君、７歳。元々は１歳の頃に飼育放棄された子だそうですが、近づいてみると非常に甘えん坊です。こんなに愛情深い子にとって、最初の１年間は相当辛かったことでしょう。

A new face: Lin, male Akita Inu, aged 7.  He was mistreated and abandoned when he was only 1 year old.  Now, he is a super-affectionate dog, which makes you think how hard it must have been for him under the first owner.

大きな男の子を前にして、タイガは耳を倒して若干緊張しています。

でも、お互い静かに挨拶できました。

Taiga and Lin greeted each other in a very calm manner.

本当に穏やかな子なので、

タイガはずけずけと臭い嗅ぎまでしました。私も調子にのってたくさん撫でました。毛を分けてみると、地肌は黒いのを発見。そういえば近所の紀州犬のウメちゃんも、シロクマのように地肌が黒いです。反対に、タイガの地肌はピンクっぽい色です。

He has a dark skin underneath the pale coat, which you can see on his forehead.

橋を渡って公園の中央エリアへ移動。

We crossed the bridge to reach the central area of the park.

林手前の草地は、すっかり初夏の印象です。

With the bright sun and cool breeze, it felt like early summer.

友達のアース君（左）とコユキちゃん（右）がミルクをもらっているところへ出くわしたので、タイガもご相伴にあずかりました。

Taiga's friends were enjoying milk, and Taiga got some, too.

公園の上のほうへ移動。ノムラモミジの赤い葉が出ています。

We went up to the upper part of the park.

緑の林の中でこの１本だけ赤いので目立ちます。

Nice and cool in the shade.  The red-leafed maple tree stands out against the green background.

林の奥にはシャガが群生していました。

山野草とは思えないくらい綺麗な花です。

Japanese iris - attractive wild flower

公園からの帰り道、いつもの屋敷林を通りました。孟宗竹のタケノコが出始めています。成木は太いもので根本付近が直径20cmもありそうです。

On our way home, we passed through the privately owned woodland open to the public.  Huge bamboo shoots were coming out.

竹やぶの奥へ向います。

開けたところに来ると、ここでもシャガが咲いていました。

When we reached the opening, there were more Japanese irises.

こんなに綺麗な花なのに花壇に植えられないのは、あまりにもありふれているから？

毎年みごとな紅葉を見せてくれるモミジの木は、今は繊細な若葉が綺麗です。

The maple trees are stunning - they look like on fire, but with green-coloured flame.
